I got 4 news ones for Christmas, and I'm sitting up at 1:00 still working -- "just one more piece."

THis is the second one -- first was very quick, but this one is DIFFICULT! (They're all the 1000 piece ones.)

Ack! I stayed up til 3:15 working on this one . . . then the baby woke at 8:30. (She's a VERY good sleeper! Goes to bed at 7, up around 8 or 8:30 every morning. Also takes an hour or two nap each afternoon. But you should see her go -- literally non-stop terror! Wears herself out.)

I love jigsaws! My husband cut up a thin board for me to work my puzzles on and then I could slide it under my couch when I didn't want it out. That was great until we got a new couch that sits on the floor with no space underneath. Crying or Very sad I bought all our children puzzles for their stockings this year and I was so excited to dive in, but they haven't even opened them yet! Crying or Very sad Oh well! Maybe the bug will bite them eventually! Very Happy

Puzzles always seemed.....frustrating...to me LOL There's only 1 single piece that will fit in that spot...then ya gotta go hunt for it...ARGHHHHH!!! Stop the insanity!!! hehehehe

We played a game on Christmas called Blokus. While it's not a puzzle...it has puzzle type pieces you fit together. It's kinda a cross between Tetris and a puzzle I guess.

You can even play on line: http://www.blokus.com/index.htm

We liked it so much that Peg bought us our own game. Hopefully we'll play it tonight.

Hey, Professor! Have you ever seen the Charles Wysocki puzzles? They are made by Milton Bradley and are Americana scenes. They are my favorite! After your post, I went and got mine out agian and did one. My children watched and got very interested, so they all got out their puzzles from Christmas and worked on them. My 8 year old son was trying to encourage my 15 year old daughter about the sense of satisfaction you get when completing a puzzle. He did his whole puzzle, but left the last three pieces and told his sister to put them in. She did, and he said, "See! Doesn't it feel good to finish it?!" She said it isn't the same as when you've worked the whole puzzle yourself!!! Very Happy

What a cute story, Danita! Yes, I have some of those Wysocki puzzles -- I love them. I also like the Kodak ones, and any really challenging ones . . .

OK, speaking of challenging, have to go chase the granddaughter . . .

Oh, did you try Http://www.jigzone.com yet?? You'll like it!

Just saw the post on puzzles. It must have started while I was gone. I have two morning fixes. One is to look at this forum for my daily support and the other is to do my jig-zone puzzle. We used to have a puzzle going on all the time but when my daughter went off to college I quit. Have you ever done the puzzles where there is a picture in a picture, in a picture and so on. They are so hard but challenging. Last night I wasn't able to sleep and started looking at other Celiac forums. Yes there are some good ones but we have the most fun. Very Happy I found one that is just getting started that looks fun call celiac by design. Only 14 member if I remember. Need to go do laundry so my daughter can start packing to leave tomorrow.
Have a great GF Day. I am doing great getting back in the swing of it all.

Hi DOnna,

WOW -- another JigZone-nut like me! It's so fun . . .

Yes, before my daughter and granddaughter moved in with me, I used to keep one going all the time, too -- now there's no space, plus the little one can reach up over the table edge and swipe the pieces! But now I found a corner of my room to put an old table in, next to my knitting chair and huge yarn basket, and I'm puzzling again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey, today I came up with an idea for using all those glued-togetehr puzzles stacked up under my bed. Normally I jsut takethem out once a week and dust them, and put them back.

So, Ihad bought some wooden trays at Hobby Lobby a few months back, and also a wooden lunchbox-looking purse with a crystal-beaded handle, and had no idea what to do with them. TOday, shuffling about in my PJs (sick) and bored, I cut some finished (and glued) puzzles to fit inside the bottom of the wooden trays, then painted the remainder of the tray with a coordinating color, and finally, used ModPodge all over the tray to seal it. THey look pretty good! And the little purse thing -- I had a finished puzzle of TImes Square, and cut it into pieces to cover the purse (cutting around all the hinges, clasp, etc), and then ModPodged that as well after gluing the puzzle to it. I could use if for a purse, or a cosmetic case inside of my suitcase, or for craft notions, etc.

Yay -- finally a use for some of them. Any other ideas? COver my shoes with puzzles? My car?? My HOUSE?

I just started a puzzle last night. It's a 500 piece wooden roller coaster It's mostly white and wooden. I think there's 2 specks of color in the whole thing!

That's a good use for completed puzzles, Lexi. Normally we just put them back in the box and pull them out a year or so later. The neighbors have come over several times in the past couple of weeks and borrowed some. Another good use would be to donate puzzles to a nursing home.
