Hi, I'm new to this, but I'm anxious to find out your experiences with the dentist. My daughter was diagnosed with Celiac Disease in October, 2005 and it is going fairly well. She had to have two teeth extracted (getting ready for braces) and I did ask the hygenist about gluten in the numbing ingredients. Well of course, we couldn't tell with the information on the package. So we decided to try it. My daughter now has the classic signs of getting glutinzed (headache, stomachache, and feeling really tired.) Septodent, Septocaine was one of the products used. I am not sure what else was used. Has anyone else had this experience? Any suggestions? thank you! |

You have to ask them to use the 'powder free' gloves, dams and anything else that might have powder on it as well.
I did have the name of the cleaning powder that the hygentist has to use, but I can't find it right this moment.
My DD has enamel deterioration, so you will have to watch for that especially with the braces. (Have them mark the chart for WHEAT Gluten Allergy.)
You will need to ask the orthodontist if the rubberbands are powder free as well.
I do know that when this is a medical condition, sometimes they can write up the charges so that the insurance will pay for things that they normally do not pay for.
I hope your daughter feels better. _________________

Do you know of anything that can be done to help prevent enamel deterioration or even improve the condition? _________________ Connie

Our dentist told her not to eat much citrus. He said that it was genetics because he knew that she was brushing. Her teeth will just cave in in spots.
It was nothing just before we found out about CD that she would have 12 cavities. (They would be the ones that he had filled and they would progress.....and crumble in a new spot beside the filling.)
He suggested caps........but the $$ for that is more than we could do right now. _________________

I hear you. I have four kids. I want one to grow up and be a mechanic, one a veternarian, one a doctor and one a dentist, or I would take just one of them being a generous millionaire who loves their Momma! _________________ Connie

| What is DD. Sorry-new at this. I am guess it is dentist. After reading other's post I am looking back and my daughter has had many cavities. In fact one tooth that was extracted had a cavity that we didn't know about. The only problem is she likes the sweets and could take better care of her teeth. |

I found the information that my dental assistant neice sent to me.
for the Prophy paste to clean your teeth:
GF Dental : Dentsplay who supplies NuPro 1-800-9898826
You also can get Vinyl Rubber Dams for Ret(s) or POWDER FREE.
Just ask your dentist. _________________

I really appreciate all the information you have provided I have printed the information from this to give my dentist. I am so surprised, I don't know why, about the enamel decay! Hopefully we can make sure we stay on top of her teeth and probably get more check ups than every 6 months. Again all feedback is so much appreciated |
