Al,
I just found a note on another thread -- some of us don't read all the threads, especially now with the spammers, so I thought I'd re-post your note from earlier so no one else misses it.
To paraphrase, we MAY be going to a new home! If GF Pantry doesn't fix this, what choice do we have? So if we PM Al our email addresses, he'll let us know either when this is fixed, or when a new forum is ready for us.
Al, you mentioned that it will either be ad-covered, or cost money. Can you g a cost? Maybe if we all paid $5 or $10 a year it would take care of their costs, and we could have an ad-free board? Or do others not mind the ads popping up? |

http://invisionfreee.com/ This is a site where a friend has a free website. She sometimes paid a couple $ a month to remove the banner ads at the top of the page, and sometimes let them sit there. They were small and they did not ever bother me. I have a free Google toolbar with pop up blocker and I never saw any pop up ads. Anyone can download this.
You can set it up so only registered members can view the site, and of course only members may post. One possible name for the site is "Celiac Friends" I don't know if google search will turn up the new address, my friend's site does not come up with a google search when I put in the name.
The downside of moving is that a lot of the people who come here and read the recipes and just talk to each other won't make it to the new home. This site is important especially when you are learning how to deal with the new diet and lifestyle changes -- how would new people find the other site?
Good luck with whatever changes you decide to make. |

I don't mind ads at all, but I would be willing to pay to get a more secure board. I have done a bit of web development in my recent past, and do tech support for a living, so I would be willing to help out in any way I can.
I want to go wherever you guys go. You have all taught me so much. I'd love to stay here, but if we need to go somewhere else, my bags are packed! _________________ -Colleen

| I think this site is so important! The information we post --and links that can be found here, but most importantly the calm, personal, confident reassurances we give and recieve are priceless. I can't imagine how lost new comers would feel without this safety net. I very recently directed a friend to this site --the only site I would dream of sending someone too. I would be willing to make an annual donation. I bet many others would, too. It is hard to ask someone to pay before thay use a site. How can they be sure it is a worthy cost? I bet if we did a email-athon 2 or 3 times a year we would get huge results. You could count on my donaton anyhow. ~Duchess |

Hi Gang,
I looked into board hosting awhile back (1st spam scare we had). It was not anything horrendous by any means. I will go back and look that, but right now I'm trying to automate a way of pulling off the data (backing it up). _________________ Al

Hi All.... I am missing my home. I feel that it has been broken into. I will help anyway you ask me to. I am better with money donations rather than technical help. I really don't know how to do all that stuff. I wish I could. Al, I really appreciate all your hard work and dedication. I am with you guys wherever you guys go. Hang in there. _________________ Melissa
