I feel like an idiot for asking because as soon as I hit submit I'll find it. Is there a spellcheck feature that can be run after typing in a post on this site?
When I type in long posts I copy and past from a word document, but this isn't really necessary for shorter posts.

TEC who's noticing too many stupid spelling errors in her posts.

Hi TEC...boy if there was a spell check around here, I wish someone would tell me about it!!

I have a Mac, one of the neat things that I can do is check a word by right clicking on it. I only have to do that when I make posts. If I'm in other software, it will underline word in red.

Spelling and math...my 2 worstest subjects Wink hehehehe Laughing

Good question please someone answer it. I think that is what keeps from posting more. My spelling sucks.

Gosh, I wouldn't be embarrassed Embarassed At a forum where you can talk about how you just suffered another bout of the Big D, or got constipated I don't think spelling should matter too much.
Exclamation Laughing Exclamation
Besides in a few more years no one will know how to spell anymore so it won't matter. I have 3 eighth graders and only one can spell. In the 6+ years I have been in this family I can probably count on both hands the number of times I have seen anything come home from school with spelling corrections on it. Mad [/list]

TEC, I have Tiger (OS 10.4.4). I don't think it will work that way if it's something other than Tiger (I could be wrong tho). Tiger was my 1st OS X. We did not upgrade from OS9 very quickly.

Unlike other boards...these titles can be edited. I've had to do it many many times Wink Embarassed

Al, you gotta get the Professor to teach you English so your grammar can get more better. Mr. Green

You guys are too funny!

I'm an editor (I work for Macmillan/McGraw-Hill right now), so I'm usually somewhat (oh, what's the word?) picky(?) about my posts! Laughing

Yeah, I went to college, got my degree in Elementary Education (minored in English), and here I am...nitpicky poster. Rolling Eyes

Al,
I've got Mac OSX Version 10.1.4. You must have a newer version.
How do you correct the titles?

Torrey,
Please feel free to let me know when I've made a mistake. I would much appreciate it--especially for those careless mistakes like your and you're and there, their and they're. Eek!

For those of you not in the know...Webster.com is an online dictionary. It's great reference and I always have it opened on my browser.

EEEK...yup, that's old. I've got the latest 10.4.5. Tiger came with the Mac Mini. I really like it.

When you edit your post...just look up where the subject is...you can edit it, just like when you wrote it.

hello,

I have a ibm compatible dell and no such special right click feature. Forgive me, I have many misspelled words. I don't even know how to go back and change it if I know I screwed up Embarassed .

I have found that the best thing for me is to open a word document in the background. If I am not sure about a word I type it in there and let the auto spell check feature tell me if I am right or not.

Doesn't catch typos though and seeing that my keyboard skills are, um, lets say, not so good, I still have to read the post a couple of times to make sure it's good Rolling Eyes

I agree with Jimsters, the problem is my keyboard. Evil or Very Mad Or maybe its my fingers Twisted Evil because I know how to spell Very Happy

Apaprently I just can't type.

My adopted native american grandmother would tell me to smudge my computer to get the evil out of it. Hmm, might help Confused , couldn't hurt Laughing Except the smoke might give me a headache and then my brain wouldn't be able to spell anymore Mr. Green .

If you are using windows and the IE browser you can download a free spell check program called IE Spell. http://www.iespell.com/

The one I use more is Google toolbar spell check. This is free. http://toolbar.google.com/ This has a pop-up ad blocker that works pretty well, I still get a few that make it through. To use the spell check, just click on the ABC Check icon on the toolbar while you have your post window open and it will show you things that need to be edited before you hit SUBMIT.

My problem is I don't always look again at what I type and I forget to use the spell check unless I think I spelled something wrong. Embarassed
