Hi all;

So, how's the weekend going? Thought maybe we'd do the "check in" that we did a few weeks ago. Just a way to let everyone catch up on what we've all been doing lately . . .

I've barely been on here lately -- just busy. Lots of deadlines with work, but as of Wednesday, they're over, so I'm still in crunch mode just a few more days. Just a few more days to get things finished up.

Took a few hours off this afternoon to go to a movie -- saw Failure To Launch. Very funny! Theatre was packed!

Otherwise, not much new around here. How about the rest of you???

Hey Lexi!!!

Yeah, I've been relatively quiet on the board as of late, too...

Well, I have good news, though--John moved all of his (remaining) out of my garage yesterday, so I can now move on with my life. Yes, the roadster is gone (they had to get a flatbed truck to tow it down to south Jersey), but hey, it's a part of him and not me. Wink I mean, honestly, do any of you see me as a hot rod chick? Rolling Eyes Nah, me neither!

I'm actually doing very well. I am ready to move on to bigger and better (and more *right* for me) things! It's time to have some time for myself and although it can be a bit lonely at times, it's what I need to do. I know I'll meet the guy for me someday... Confused

I spent much of yesterday with my dad--he came over *just to be there* while my ex moved his stuff out. He took me to lunch--cheeseburger, no bun--and that was cool. Last night, I headed over to my mom's house--she needed help hanging a door...oh, boy, was *that* a recipe for disaster! But, we hung the door and then headed out to one of my fave stores on the planet--Borders. I picked up 2 new books, so I am sure I will be back there again next week! (Yeah, people can't believe that, I, as an editor, actually enjoy reading for pleasure!!) Laughing

Today is a rainy (but warmer!) Sunday, so there's not too much excitement going on...maybe I'll watch Corpse Bride on DVD...John did leave me the surround sound system... Wink

That's why you're an editor -- because you like reading! Ditto here -- all I do is read and write (and lecture a bit), but to see the stacks of books at my house -- well, let's just say that I now longer have shelves enough. When you walk into my bedroom, you think for a second that it's a wallpaper that looks like stacks of books, floor to ceiling . . . but it's really just white walls and . . . stacks of book, floor to ceiling!

I was just telling Al on our backgammon game, we have spring, but also have sandstorms, so we're trapped inside with doors and windows sealed, trying to keep the dustbowl out. It's a difficult time of year, March. Great winds, got my granddaughter a kite and can't wait for the sand to slow down enough so we can go out and fly it. Yesterday gusts up to 80 mph. Parts of I-10 close, and sometimes you can't see more than 10 feet. Ah, the desert.

OK, back to work! Have an article to finish for Wednesday review (for publication). Work, work, work.

Hey, maybe that would make a good movie title. Laughing . I'm just (barely) coming back to the land of the living. I've had a sinus infection that turned into pneumonia and I've been in bed all week. I HATE taking antibiotics--but in this case, they're better than the alternative. Reading these posts always makes me feel a little better--even in the worst of times. Thanks, guys

I'm here...I think Wink

It's been a very busy 3 months and the next 3 days will be worse. Today was no piece of cake either. It involved buying and installing a new sump pump in the swimming pool...ummmm...basement at church. It's that time of year again and we get a lot of water there. I went down to check on things and found that the sump was almost full. I check the pump...it's not working. I think it's the switch. So after church went to Menards (like Home Depot) to get a new one. Ahhh the joys of being the council vice president (trust me, it's better than being the prez LOL)

We will be leaving Thursday 9:00am for my brother's wedding in Jamaica. So, that means I have to get stuff at work cleaned up. The boss and wife have been gone for 3 months to AZ (yes I was alone). They just got back and I've got a few emergency type things that I have to clean up tomorrow - <yuck>. Plus go over everything that needs to taken care and explain everything that has happened the past 3 months!!! <ACK!!> I hate it when things turns to "stuff" right before I leave.

I am still in the process of writing the best man speech. I told myself that I was not going to be writing it on the plane. I have a really good start!! I takes me a long time to write in general...specially stuff like that. I probably should be writing 2 of them because they are having a reception back home for the rest of the people on April Fools day...but I won't worry about that til then. Wink

Well, I best be doing...something... Smile

Well, I think that I can finally say that I am starting to feel better! Once I bought the B12 made correctly and threw out the daily vitamin that had wheat in it, we are starting to come back to the land of the living.

I had 2 really good days and they were when my family came to visit this past weekend. (Of course I overdid things with them, so the past 2 days have been recovery time for me.) I am just so thankful that life for the past four days has been so much better! I was really in need of finding a rainbow.

MrP continues to eat lunch out everyday..........he swears that he isn't getting glutened, but I know that he is getting cross contamination and that is the root of his problem. (He is taking lunch today thanks to Cebel's bun recipe, he has a huge sandwich) Hopefully he will soon quit being stubborn and listen to my nagging, er I mean helpful advice about only eating from home for a while until he heals again.

I had a really rough weekend. My father in law passed away and his funeral was Saturday. I spent most of my week trying to take care of some of the little details so my mother-in-law wouldn't have to. Also my daughter had a big family heredity week at school with parent involvement. My yongest has been sick for over a month, I am really worried. All that bad, but still, I have to say the weekend was a turning point for me. I am sure the worst is behind me now. The funeral was nice. The spaetzle I made for Miranda's class was good. Tyler went to the doctor again on Monday and test results will surely have some kind of answer for us when they come back. I will gladly accept prayers on behalf of my little one. I feel like it is time to regroup and be optimistic. It's working already--- on the bright side the tornado we had today totally missed us. Shocked Thanks for being here guys. ~Duchess

Mrs. P,
You'r husband might like sandwiches on the focaccia bread that I posted the recipe for last week. I thought it was great for sandwiches. It was even good used as a bun' for a burger.

Everyone,
Things are so chaotic right here right now. The worst of it is that my grandfather who is 90 is suffering from late stages of congestive heart failure. It's all he can do to get a breath while wearing a full oxygen mask with the oxygen at the highest level. It so sad to watch a formerly strong, healthy and proud man die such a horrible death. I totally understand why some people choose to die on their own terms. Suffocating is a cruel way to die.

For many years, I've been extremely lucky. I'm 35 (and for the moment) I still have all 4 of my grandparents.

Duchessia,
I'm sorry to hear about the death of your father-in-law. I'll keep my fingers crossed that you will soon figure out what is ailing your child.

Duchess,
I'm so sorry about all that's happening for you right now. (I've always believed that the Universe sends us crises in bunches so that we don't have the opportunity to go crazy obcessing over ONE!) Things WILL get better--just make sure you look after your own needs as well as everyone else's. We're sending "happy thoughts".

Duchess--I am so sorry to hear about your loss. I hope you and your family are holding together through this difficult time. Please know that you are in my thoughts...

TEC--I am also very sorry to hear about your grandfather. You are very lucky to be 35 and still have 4 grandparents with you. I am 30 and I do not have any of my grandparents around anymore. Cherish the time that you have remaining with your grandfather. I know it isn't easy watching a loved one go through something like that...

Everyone--you have all been there for me through my difficult times and I just want you all to know that I am also here for you. You guys are the best, my little celiac family, and I just hope you all know that.

Keep smiling and know that this, too, shall pass.

Duchess - I am sorry to hear of your loss. It's never easy. But then to have it heaped on top of everything else....ugh. You and your family will be in my thoughts & prayers.

TEC - Seeing someone disintegrate like that is also very hard. I can understand you feelings. The same goes for you TEC...you & family will be in my thoughts & prayers.
