I recently found this website U.S. only- http://www.wendys.com/food/pdf/us/gluten_free_list.pdf I was wondering if anyone with CD or related condition has tried eating here with the listed gf items? I don't feel I am as sensitive as others, but recently tried the southwest taco salad and liked it. I did not have the dressing that came with it, but it was also listed as Gf.

I've eaten the gluten free items at Wendy's. I like the broccoli and cheese baked potatoes.

We love Wendy's! I love the potatoes, the chili, and the Frosty's. My son likes to get the kid's meal (w/o the bun, and I bring GF bread from home).
I haven't tried any of the salads (except the side salad), but the taco one looks really good. _________________ -Colleen

Thanks for the replys. I am happy to see I am not the only CD person to eat there. I think the selection is pretty good considering other chains for gf food. I also like the spuds, but haven't tried the frosty yet .

When we travel from Florida to Kentucky Wendy's and Steak and Shake are the only fast food style restaurants we stop at. I have done the m&m Frosty and potato and burger. Have not had any problems yet. _________________ CD by Biopsy 3/25/88 |

Wow this is amazing. I had no idea Wendy's burgers were GF. I got CD a long time ago and at the time the Canadian Celiac Association only recommended the big Mc as OK. Guess I should have done a follow up.
I know where I am eating lunch tomorrow

Jim,
Things maybe different for Wendy's in Canada. I would check a Canadian source for Wendy's. You can never be sure things are the same when switching between countries.
Perfect example...McD's fries in Canada...do not use the same parfry oil as they do in the States.
From the Canadian Celiac Assoc.:
http://www.celiac.ca/PDFs/McDonalds%20Stmt%20Feb%202006.pdf
Our frying oil is different, therefore trans fat levels are lower than the US, and the oil does not contain the flavouring mentioned, or any wheat or dairy derivatives.
Let us know what you find out. _________________ Al

Thanks for the concern and advice. I took a closer look at the site and noticed a drop down to change to "English Canada" Doing so switched to a Canadian menue. Burger patties are GF here to.
I also took a second and phoned just to make sure and got confirmation that all is good.
Isn't it a peach when you get all excited about being able to fast food? What a life we live.

Hey--I get all excited when I find ANY "new" food I can eat!!!
I've always been a rather picky eater, and being GF has put a whole different angle on things!
I'm just glad we all have this board/forum as a resource! It definitely helps in the adjustment to the GF lifestyle!!!

OK, so I just got back from lunch. Nice deal. Went in and ordered double cheese burger no bun. Braced myself for the, look he has two heads reaction, but the lady just punched the order in and quickly ran to the back to ensure things went OK. Burger came out nicely packaged in a to go box. Meat on bottom, stuff in the middle, meat on top. Nicely ready to be picked up and eaten.
Next time I will try a salad of some sort as well.
Good times, people, good times

Oh Awesome! I LOVE Wendy's!!! Their frostys are to die for. I usually get a Jr. Bacon Cheese burger, small fri and a frosty. I guess I'll skip the fri and go w/ a regular burger.
Well that is if my daug. is diagnosed w/ CD.......ugh.....the wait! _________________ Lisa

| I don't think the fries are gluten free. They fry everything in the same fryer last I checked. You might want to check. |

Thank you all over and over and also for the Chili's recommendations. DH and I have been wondering where to stop for chow on our way up to Tennessee. Now, we have two great choices - but I will call ahead and ask for the manager just to be sure. _________________ "Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you." 1 Thessalonians 5:18 |

Outback has an actual GF menu and Steak and Shake has quite a few items you can eat as well, as always you have to be careful about cross contamination. Sonny's BBQ has items that are OK, we eat their and at Wendy's when we travel to Kentucky. _________________ CD by Biopsy 3/25/88 |
