Awww - that's what I wanted to say! It's so true! Not that I've ever eaten a whole pint of Ben and Jerry's in one sitting...
One other thought (which isn't quite as nice) but if you make yourself so sick that you can't function (or heaven forbid - die) who will take care of your kids? You're the most important person in their lives and they need you. (Do you ever stop needing your mom?) So maybe think about that every time you think you can't live without a bite of poison pasta... _________________ Cheers!

No, it's not stupid. One thing you learn with this...is that you must know about the items in food (and non-food items). That means reading, calling & asking questions. Horray for Mousy!!
Can you list the ingredients? Maybe we can figure it out.
The other thing to do is call the company that makes it. If it's outside the US, it might be difficult for them to say. I know AztecPrincess (aka Iris), lives in Mexico City - she said it's not very easy to get that kind of info from manufacturers down there. |

Yea! I'm so happy to hear that you're going to try to go back to the GF eating. I know you can buy Sazon at the store, but you never know what you're getting. And like Al said, it's hard to get info if you're not buying from a US company. Anyway I did a little digging and here's what's in Suzon so you can make a batch and keep it at home - easy to use when you're ready!
Title: Sazon Preparado (Prepared Seasoning)
Categories: Herbs/spice, Dom repub, Caribbean, Upload
Yield: 6 cups
3 md Onions; chopped
1 ea Pepper, bell, green; seeded -chopped
1 ea Pepper, bell, red; seeded -chopped
4 lg Garlic cloves; peeled -chopped
1 tb Oregano
1 c Scallions; chopped, both -green and white
1/2 c Parsley; coarsely chopped
1/2 c Coriander; chopped
1 ts Tabasco sauce
1 tb Paprika, sweet
1 c Tomato paste
1 c Oil, olive
1/2 c Vinegar, white
Salt; to taste
Combine all ingredients and blend, bit by bit, to a puree in blender. Pour into saucepan and simmer, stirring constantly, for 5 minutes. Cool and bottle.
Used to flavor stews, beans, rice and vegetables. Easy to make and useful to have on hand.

I know... I'm really sorry to have had to say that, but staying on your GF diet is truly that serious. I didn't want you to feel bad, but you said you wanted a wake up call - there it is in black and white. If you won't be good for yourself, be good for your kids.... and we'll be here for you. You can do this!
There's almost nothing in the gluten world that hasn't been re-created in a GF version, you aren't going to miss out on anything. You won't be denied anything (except maybe a little convenience) At first it might be trial and error with different products to find one you think is comparable, but it's worth it. Even if you have to throw away 1/2 dozen $6 loaves of bread... surely your life is worth $36?
The good news is we've all tried a lot of the products out there so we can help you avoid some of the less tasty ones. And go to a support group! People are always willing to help and share info - and usually someone will bring a GF treat or two so you'll feel right at home.
One last thought, tell your boyfriend and kids how important it is that you stay on a GF diet. Let them help you. When I was little my Mom smoked and my sister and I used to hide her cigarettes and beg her not to smoke so she wouldn't die. (She did wind up quitting) Maybe your kids can hid your bread sticks? Or at least eat GF with you at home?
And if you think you're going to have a weak moment go to the computer, log on and chat with us - we can help you stay strong! _________________ Cheers!

Hi Moussy, you need to know that the cravings are the addictive response for the poisons you're taking in. Once you get your system cleaned out the cravings will go away. It ain't easy but it works. If somebody had told me THAT I would never have believed them. You'll go thru withdrawals for a week or two and then you'll start to feel much, much better and the cravings will dissipate. Just make sure you carry a GF snack, (protein bars, cookies, chips) with you at all time, cause if you get hungry it's sooo easy to fall off the wagon, so to speak. Good luck. _________________ The Love we withhold is the pain that we carry.
