Hello All..
hope you all had a good wkd. as for me, I havent had a wkd like this, since back in October. Since Friday night, and for some reason, right after i signed off from this forum, i had nothing but nausea. All i wanted to do was stick my finger down my throat but didnt have the guts. Saturday was a bit better, so i had some soup. YESTERDAY.. WORSE of them all. Nausea, vomiting at the same time i was using the bathroom (if u know what i mean, sorry, for the details).
I couldnt get out of bed this morning, bc i didnt get a wink of sleep last night. Im home now, drinking ginger ale and just waiting if off. I feel as if ever since Friday, and talking about this, i've felt more sick . Can it be that its all in my head..? is my head playing games with me?

??????????

Hey Wanda,

I'm sorry to hear that you're not feeling well! Sad
I hope you get back on your feet again soon!
Now, I have a question--was this a food-related reaction? If so, what did you eat over the weekend? Anything with gluten in it?

Or, did (do) you have a stomach bug?

You must be extremely dehydrated right now, so make sure you drink lots of water to make up for what you're losing. Wink

Take care of yourself--get well soon!

Thank you..
I mean, friday, all i had were 2 boiled eggs. Yesterday, i went to a shower and had white rice, salad and grilled chicken. when i got home, later on last night, i was having corn chips w/salsa, but I made sure i knew what was in it, and thought it would be ok. Soon after, i was in the bathroom.. ...
could it have been that?

Hi Wanda,

Are you sure it wasn't too much alcohol at your Cinco De Mayo party? Smile Certainly it could be from a flu bug.

Plain boiled eggs wouldn't be a problem.

Soups - most mainstream canned soups will have gluten in them.

White rice, salad & grilled chicken all have possibilites

White rice....was there any seaonsings or flavorings in it? It it was a box mix - many times they have hidden gluten.

Salad...what type of dressing was on it? Dressings can have gluten in them. Did it have Bacon Bits? Were they Baco's? Baco's are not GF.

Grilled chicken...sometimes the chicken can be injected with a broth or have marinades that can contain gluten. If it was grilled - maybe they were grilling the buns right next to the chicken or the grill has become contaminated one way or another.

As you can see, there can be many places gluten can hide. You always have to be on the lookout for it. It's quite sneaky Wink

When going to a pot luck like that, I will always take my own food (as I do most places). Unless the people that are preparing food for you know how to handle it, how to prepare it and what ingredients to use - it's best to eat food that you know is GF.

Hope you're feeling better!!

Oh, Al, that is SO true!

I can't tell you how many times I have been glutened by a seemingly innocuous bowl of rice!!! Embarassed

Gluten is definitely one of those sneaky little buggers and you have to be on the lookout in EVERYTHING you eat!

I used to eat out a lot, but I've had to drastically reduce the frequency, as my antigliadin levels were still quite high a couple of weeks ago...and I've been GF for 2 years (almost). Believe me, gluten hides in MANY foods, and even when you don't have an outward reaction, you may be having an internal gluten reaction.

It does get easier, I promise. It's a constant learning process. Smile

Feel better soon!
