Celiac's made prime time. I don't know how many of you are HOUSE fans but tonights show dealt with CD. Synopsis: the baby died because his villi were atrophied and couldn't absorb the medication needed to save his life after his mother tried to smother him. The mother was having seizures and hallucinations caused by vitamin deficiencies caused by CD. It also caused her stomach cancer. It was pretty graphic--House always is. Maybe it will wake some people up--those who are less than supportive. He's a cantankerous old cuss but I'm still a fan.

House is my favorite, must see tv show. It is always intense. The show last night really hit home. Anyone with celiac should probably tape that show and let family and friends view it. It will probably open the eyes of nonsupporters and even people that think a little bit is okay. I know it made me think throught the night.

While I think CD does need more of the public spotlight, I'm not sure if that's the kind of attention it should get. Seems very farfetched to me.

Yeah I'm with Ostrich, they seemed to really stretch it on the whole leading up to the "CAUSE" underlying all of the symptoms and other diseases she manifested, but they were pretty accurate when they got to the TA DA, she has celiac disease, get her on an IV diet and off the gluten.

Can't say I ever heard voices but I did have halucinations of bugs crawling all over me and would think I saw them, the CD also kicked in upon delivery of my children. Guess its a good thing I stopped at two kids. Shocked

I don't think there is much danger of the general population viewing the show and thinking were all certifiable however. I have to admit most of the medical terms they shout out on that show I have never heard of and go right over my head and I imagine it was the same for non-CD people when they got to the diagnosis.

I did think it was pretty cool though Very Happy

House is ALWAYS far-fetched--and graphic. Why else would anybody put up with his obnoxious behavior Laughing ! I figure some attention is better than no attention at all. At least the point was that it's not "all in our heads"--that's gotta be worth something.

I've never seen House. I usually stick to the stuff on the Discovery channel.

I can see some housewife going "OMG did you see House last night?? Those celiac people are CRAZY! That certainly explains Martha down the street..."

Hey Ostrich, you don't know what you're missing by avoiding House. It's always some complicated disease that only he can diagnose, but it's got real cool footage of organs working--or not, as the case may be.
(I have to admit, I get a kick out of watching a Brit do a weekly series with a flawless American accent Laughing .

My nights are already taken up with Deadliest Catch, Mythbusters, and (right now) American Inventor. I don't need another night gone! Laughing

You'll never eat a crab w/o appreciating the work that went into putting it on your plate.

I feel like such a sports junkie...

My nights are currently filled with Yankee games and Nets playoffs...
Rolling Eyes

Oh, and of course, The Sopranos on Sunday nights!!!

I really don't watch all that much TV--no time, you know? Razz

I do like Law & Order: SVU, though, but it's at the point where I have seen all of the episodes and even have them on DVD...

Hahaha, it's ok Torrey, I'm just a big geek. I love learning shows, never really been into the more "prime time" stuff. But those are the only shows I watch; I don't have much TV time either. It'd probably help if I didn't play God of War (Warning! This game is rated "M for Mature" for a reason!) so much...

And yeah Al, Deadliest Catch rules! Very Happy I don't eat seafood, but I sure appreciate the work that goes into catching it.

Ah, it's all good, Os! I'm a big geek, too! Wink

As for gaming, I never played God of War, but I played EverQuest for way too long a few years ago hehehe Embarassed
Yeah, I had a level 42 wizzie (Nuuki Laquemadora) and a level 41 cleric (Shiiva Curebringer)...
