I wanted to post sooner, but was so busy getting the kids ready to go to G'ma and G'pas. And when I got home yesterday, I crashed, I think this was the 1st time ever I slept nearly 12 hours straight. Believe it or not, I'm still dragging today!
Anyway, I loved all of the pictures, You all are so talented!!!
Here are a few of the things I do, I enjoy most to sew and crochet, Although, I haven't done either since Christmas! Maybe between now and Monday, (if I can wake up!) I'll get at least one project in.
This is a Afghan I made for my neighbor for Christmas.
Next is a bag I made for my mom. I used Trapunto on the lighthouse. Which simply means, it's stuffed to give it a 3D or raised look. Both sides has a different lighthouse picture.
A first for me, was this sweater I made for Matthew, the button holes are a bit loose, but otherwise, it turned out ok. He likes it.
Lastly, Is a baby set I made as a gift fleece blanket with crocheted border, booties, and burp cloth.
I think I've settled on trying to make myself a bible cover while the kids are gone. My poor bible is wearing thin, and in great need of protection. lol
Have a great day!

| I am a lefty too. Did you know we lefties die 6/7 years before the righties? I dont know why. I am a tad clumsy being a lefty in a right handed world? There were no left handed things when I was little so I had to learn to use my right. |

Hey great stuff Kristie!! Wow - you do keep busy.
My Mom taught me to crochet when I was kid. That was a battle - I'm a lefty - she's a righty LOL!!
Whohoo!! Another lefty!!! Yay!!
Although...I'm a bit worried...
I would think with the kids being gone, you and hubby could find a few more "interesting" things to do than crocheting...unless that's what you kids are calling these days _________________ Al

If I remember correctly [and this maybe a wives tale], it had to do with the stress of living in a right handed world.
Luckily I do many things right handed. Bat, golf, guitar. Mousing - is either. At home it's right handed cuz Peg is a right. At work 1 have one 1 left and one right.
Another lefty!! this sounds like it should have a post of it's own A poll to see how many rightys and leftys we have _________________ Al

This is exactly how I learned, and how I'm teaching my right handed daughter. You know the trick... Sit across from one another, I call it the "mirror effect"

Have you been talking to my husband?? I think he's thinking the same thing. I feel so horrible for crashing at 6pm last night. But mommy has nearly 4 years of sleep to catch up on! It's hard when you have a little one who goes to sleep at 11 and wakes up at 4-5 EVERY morning.
However, I think tomorrow night will be our "date" night. He's taking me out to the movies. (watch I'll fall asleep.)

I guess I'm more correctly ambidextrous in a way.
I can only Eat, write, crochet left handed,
any and all sports, I do with my right hand. including mouse and cutting.
Both growing up, and now, I have been the only "lefty" in my family.

| I guess I am ambiwotsit too. I can do everything with both hands though writing is more comfortable with my left. The only way I can remember how to set a table is that fork has four letters and left has too. Everytime I set a table I still have to go through it. My Mum taught me to knit and she is right handed. I dont know what way is right handed and what way is left. Thinking about it both ways seem fine though I think I would have the yarn (wool to a brit) on the left and stick the needle in the stitch to the left? |

I loved the pictures of all that you guys have done! I feel inspired to finish a project, now! *digs out the placemats I've been working on for an age*
I love to keep my hands busy, so I've tried lots of things:
1. Knitting - Can do a fair job of easy things, but it's really not my favorite.
2. Crochet - Love crochet. I have a thing for buying vintage patterns (1940s or so) and doing those instead of modern patterns.
3. Sewing - I love to sew little girl clothes. Too bad my little girls are becoming big girls! Also like to sew stuff for the house (curtains, pillows, napkins, etc.)
4. Quilting - Well, I like piecing tops, but hate the quilting part. (my mum is the absolute best at quilting/piecing and knows so many techniques it's crazy).
5. Quilling - different than quilting, in case you don't know, it's rolling paper up and gluing it to make shapes. Sounds weird, looks awesome.
6. Cross-stitch - I used to love it, but I just don't have the patience anymore, so I stopped.
7. Ribbon embroidery - I am not so good at this... but I have tried it and want to improve, so my supplies are handy.
8. Rug Hooking - Hmm... Not very good at it, and haven't attempted it in years, but I want to give it another go.
9. Most recently, shuttle tatting. Well, I started teaching myself a few days ago. I think I'll like doing it once I learn a few more stitches, but right now it seems a bit difficult.
And, of course... with three kids, we do lots of kid friendly crafts around here, too! No pics, though, as my digital camera decided to call it quits.

Well i absolutely love to sew all my own clothes, i can post some pics tomorrow hopefully, and design the majority myself, or majorly modify any pattern i am using to the point of not even using the instructions!
And as you can probably tell by my name, i am also a Bass player( 6 string, infact!), singer, and lyricist/all round songwriter!
I honestly cant believe how many other sewers/knitters are on here! |

You play a 6-string bass?! Impressive! I've only ever played a five string, and tend to stick to my 4-string most of the time. Secretly that's just because I took up bass to avoid having too many strings (I wasn't the greatist guitarist) _________________ - Amy

Now that is a talent I'd love to have! Lately, I've been buying some vintage patterns from an antique shop not far from here... Dress and blouse patterns from the 40s. However, I found one incredible dress and coat pattern from the 60s that is in a smaller size than I, and I want to adjust it to fit me... ~sigh~ _________________ "The electrocution was not my fault. Jet City Woman, ah the old "bass is easier coz its only got 4 strings" thing! haha, nah its cool knowing theres another bassist on here! Honestly the main reason why i bought myself a 6'er is i write all on bass(weird, i know!), and kept needing lower and/or higher notes in the one song, and couldnt tune down for just one or notes, then go back to standard tuning, so i solved the problem with 2 extra strings. I gotta say it scares alot of guitarists! Especially seeing a chick play it too!
Ali- I love all those old vintage patterns too! But as you said its pretty hard to find the right sizes, so if i find a design i like(or semi-like and modify it lol!) i buy it, then try and find a similar pattern(from sewing shops where you can choose the size), and just alter it as i go! Or i just buy really basic new school patterns like plain shirts, skirts, and jackets(havent mastered pants yet!), and just slowly change one or two bits around each time....But doing that it helps to have a huge stash of cheap fabric you dont mind wasting!! |
