So soy bothers me (binds thyroid hormones, most people have a glad that just makes more but I don't have that luxury). Of the gluten free cookbooks, which would be best? I realize they all probably have soy flour as an ingredient somewhere, but I'd like to minimize the soy containing recipes because I am too lazy to optimize them all (just perfected my cornbread, need to write down what I did before I forget).
I want a baking and a desserts cookbook, but if you have suggestions on other kinds of GF cookbooks or resources I'm open to ideas. I just don't like risking my computer because I'm a messy cook (laptop, countertop, milk, only a matter of time before it goes bad) and internet recipes are so hit or miss for quality.

Carol Fenster has several books on dealing with multiple food allergies/intollerances (dairy, eggs, gluten, etc.). Not sure if soy is one of them. You might look at her books to see if any of them would work for you.

To tell you the truth, I have bought several cookbooks that are GF by the experts and I find that those recipes are really hit and miss as well. I usually regret having spent so much money on the book when I find I only like a few of the recipes.
I had punched and scowered the net looking for recipes that are good. I was able to pull together recipes that filled about 150 pages for my daughter and I to print out.
If you go to BrainTalk and look through their recipes they are really good. If a recipe calls for SOY, just sub another flour.....bean flour, teff, sorghrum, or something else.
Once you play with them, you can get the nack of knowing what will work and won't work for your family's tastes.
There was a support group online that was out in UTAH that had a lot of good recipes on it.
We have quite a few good recipes on here as well.

You should be able to pull togther quite a few recipes from these sites. Save them in a word document and then either make a disc and print them out at a place similar to Staples (6 cents a copy) or print them out from your computer. I found that the plastic document covers are great to protect the recipes and you will have your very own cookbook of recipes. _________________

Thanks for the links. I love to bake (and I'm trying to convince my mom to try GF) so between baking for myself and my parents I might end up just writing my own cook book
Gluten Free, Southern Style
Dumplings, now THAT will be a challenge! Potato bread, fried chicken and okra, sweet potato rolls/pancakes, baked mac and cheese, hush puppies. Oi, this could take a while! At least the cornbread's not too hard to figure out . _________________ Lauren
