I was dxed in November by blood test and and biopsy. I have been GF since. My bloodwork showed that my celiac antibodies are much better. But the inflamation in my body is still up. My sed rate is 28 it was 30. My C-reactive protein is 17.49. Not sure what it was before. I have other health problems, but nothing to explain the inflamation. So I wanted to know if celiac causes inflamation? How much usually and how long before it is better? I have tried to find answers but no luck. Thanks for any input!!! Smile Smile

Hi Momma,

I did a bit of research on Celiac & ESR (Erythrocyte Sedimentation Rate or SED rate). I didn't find a lot...only that there are cases of elavated ESR and CD.

For those interested here's some background on ESR: http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency/article/003638.htm

Have you seen a Rheumatologist?

It's possible you may still have some inflammation in your stomach. I have seen reports that say it can take up to 2 years for intestines to fully heal.

Good luck. Let us know how things go!

Hi Maria.
I've been gluten free since December too, and I still bloat up on occations. I've worked out that there are other foods which cause it other than foods with gluten in it.

I'm sensitve to rice, corn, onions, capsicum (peppers) and more. If I eat these things, my stomach acts the same as if I've had gluten, and hurts a lot, plus I bloat.

Maybe you are the same way with some foods too. Just a thought. Idea

Thanks Maria! Very Happy It's good to be back...although the cold weather & snow could stop anytime now! Smile I only takes a week of warm weather to spoil you Smile

Boy, I really don't have any answers for you. Do you have gas with this bloating?

I googled "bloating stomach distension"...here are some of the results. Maybe it might get you pointed in the right direction.

http://ehealthforum.com/health/gastric_bypass.html - discussion board that looks interesting.

http://www.medhelp.org/perl6/Gastro/wwwboard.html - While I don't care for how is site is run now (you pay 15.00 to ask a question) - you might be able to find something here. I started out here researching my reflux problems years ago - it was a free site then.

I noticed a common element in some of these pages...Lactose Intolerance.

Good luck. I hope you find some answers!!
