|
|
We're going to San Francisco in a couple of weeks and I'm wondering if anyone had any good experiences with GF restaurants or restaurants that actually listened to and made GF food for you. I am less confident about eating out right now than I was a month ago, before I went out of town for a long weekend and got sick regardless of my efforts.
We will be staying with friends and I might just suggest going to the store and making stuff but then again I got sick doing that the other time I went out of town recently, too, because of cast iron pans being used. No winning, sometimes.
Anyway, any thoughts would be great. _________________ Stephanie |

Hi Steph,
Sorry to hear that your dining experience was less than desireable
I don't really have any answers for you...only that...In my experiences the "higher end" restaurants are much more aware/accomodating to your requests than the everday places. You could request a plain piece of salmon, broiled on it's own tray...or grilled on a piece of tinfoil. Using only a pinch salt and pepper and maybe a squeeze of lemon...oh yeah...maybe some EVOO (Extra Virgin Olive Oil). Served on a bed of rice with steamed veggies on the side. All with out getting that "cows watching a passing train" look from the wait staff.
I hope you have fun & safe trip!! _________________ Al

Cows watching a passing train look!!! BWHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!
May be more difficult than all that as my friends are not likely to go to a finer establishment, it's all I can do to get them to not eat at a Mexican or Thai place (remember I can't eat tomatoes or peppers) so we'll see... Would love to know if there is a place that has a special menu or something.
Anyway, thanks for cracking me up with that bit about cows... I know that expression REALLY well! _________________ Stephanie |

Here's the full line from "If Dirt Were Dollars"
She just looked at me, uncomprehendingly
Like cows at a passing train
If dirt were dollars
If dirt were dollars
If dirt were dollars
I wouldn’t worry anymore
