| I am going to try to go to this because it is only an appx. hour away for me. It will be interesting because I do not know anyone personally with CD and my search for groups has been futile. I did find a group about 1 1/2 hr away and they were having a pizza party but it was alreay over and they were not going to get together again for another 6 mths. Maybe I will find connections if I go to this. |

Hey West,
Conferences like this are well worth the time, money & effort to attend. I would recommend them to everyone. I wish I had the time & $$ to go. West - take good notes and share them with us OK??
Take a look thru this:
Our Thread on Support Group Websites - Links to support group websites.
You might be able to find something close to you. _________________ Al

| That was a great thread Al. No groups really close but a Yahoo group on line. I'll have to share the notes from Standford. |

| Celiac group on Yahoo was really disappointing. I'm becoming partial to this community - better features, better organized, better information, better, better, better. |

Westwalker (and AL!) -
I am going to this conference. I registered for it a while ago, when I first posted about it. The registration was $95.00 (which is a lot less than other Celiac conferences I've read about) and I have to fly, stay in a hotel, and rent a car. But, that's how much I feel it'll be worth it to me.
My daughter is priceless! =) |

Al, I know you were talking to the other "Kris", but I think I'll have to see about going to this one. I have tons of family still in Wis. That would be great, see family and go to conference.
Thank you for sharing the link! Gonna check it out! _________________ Kristie M.

Actually - the one in Green Bay is a LOT more expensive. Member registration is $350.00 where non-member registration is $450.00 plus you have to pay extra for the GF meals!! That's for the 2 days. One day only is $225.00.
Breakfast, lunch, and beer tasting is included in the Stanford conference. I really wish I liked beer!! =) |

Maybe you do... I was thinking if you're Celiac your whole life and not diagnosed and have a beer (which is primarly gluten) your body tells you "Yuck, I hate the way this tastes" because it knows that it's poison. So maybe if you tried a Gluten Free beer - it might "taste" better?
And that's my Sunday morning ramble... _________________ Cheers!

If you have a place to stay in the area (family, friends, etc) as Eorrific mentioned and didn't have to drive a great distance, fly or rent a car. The conference in Green Bay could easily end up being less expensive than the one in CA for some people.
