Is there such a person who's job it is to help people with depression DUE to dietary issues??
And, if so....what is their title?
I'm just so ready to throw in the towel right now.... I don't know what to do. I'm certainly looking for ANY help I can get. I'm so tired, I'm so angry, I'm so frustrated. I feel like a failure with everything... my daughter being at the top of a very long list.
I'm already "doped up" on antidepressants, but with all these new issues surfacing....they don't seem to be helping me much these days.
This truly is a cry for help. |

Kris, I don't know of anyone that would hold that title. I think that you would get more support here and with a local support group. Of course I could be wrong about someone that is that specialized.
Kris, I know that frustration! You will feel extremely frustrated when you are overwhelmed and detoxing. I know that most people will throw this off as the glass is half full/half empty, but this is what truly got me through the depression and frustration of learning to cook. Don't look at this as what I can't eat, but what I can.
If there is a favorite comfort food, concentrate on how to make it GF. (If you have one of those recipes, then let us know here and maybe someone has an alternative that will help get you through this trying time.)
I have found the frustration really exsists with not having any ready made foods that I can just pull from when I am tried or don't feel good.
I try on days that I am not having a flare to cook up a storm and freeze things so that I can' just pull something out and warm it up.
when my pressure canner arrives, I hope to have a good day and want to can some soup. I think that would be an ideal thing to have to pull from. (I wonder if I can make condensed soup to have it on hand?)
If you find that you are having trouble with depression and already being on antidepressants, then possibly your vitamins are really low. B12 really helps with that. (or at least it did for me.)
I hope that you get to feeling better quickly! _________________

Kris,
I don't know about a specialist, but have you talked to the dr. who is prescribing the meds and told them what's going on?
I've been through serious depression, so I relate to what you're saying. I'm here for you and I'll be praying for you!

Kris...I think the problem may stem from having 3 babies in 10 years and then getting hit with all the dietary issues and demands that have been placed on you. I honestly don't know how people do this....I don't have kids and some days are tough!
You need to talk to the doctor about the meds...they may not have the best one for you or the right dosage. Then you most definitely NEED and DESERVE some serious "me" time. Time that includes exercise and pampering for yourself. I would talk to hubby and come up with a plan that will allow for this......it really makes a difference. Maybe a babysitter or relative to help a couple of days a week for a few hours?
Once the detox is over and you feel more comfortable with GF cooking, I have found that most any recipe can be converted to GF and once you have some favorite comfort foods, it can make a big difference.
I hope you can come up with a plan for yourself, with husband's help, as it will make a big difference in how you feel and your outlook. You've had alot to deal with and deserve a break to re-group. |

Hi Kris,
I know what you're going through... although my youngest is 5. I got very sick back in Nov. (and started developing PTSD) and wasn't diagnosed until Feb. My mom passed away a couple weeks later. Because of how sick I was and being stuck in bed, I only got to visit her 4 or 5 times from Nov. to Feb. The PTSD ended up getting real bad and I was put on anti-anxiety pills and anti-depressants. Long story short, I'm not on either one anymore. My husband and I have been doing research for supplements I can take for anxiety and depression. So far, calcium, magnesium, and B Complex are suppose to help with anxiety and depression. I just bought a calcium / magnesium supplement that I've been taking for the last few days. I read that calcium citrate is better for the body. It's easier to digest and we absorb more from it than we would from calcium carbonate. Also, I notice I do a lot better when I take my multi-vitamins regularly as well as an iron supplement during that time of the month. From what I understand, it's normal to go through that when your body is depleted of vitamins and minerals.
HTH
Take care.
