Okay, I have been gluten/casein/dye free and avoiding MSG, Aspartate, etc. for 3 months now. We ate at Cracker Barrel Sun night, and I ordered a grilled chicken breast with apple sauce. The grilled chicken had a sugar and water solution on it. I realize this could be cross-contamination, ....I had a little "D" this morning, but tonight I'm having lots of bloating, terrible gas, belching that tastes like popcorn (sorry for TMI) and I'll probably have a long night and "D" in the morning.........these are the symptoms I had been getting on and off before going GFCF.
The only other thing I had that was different was a cookie with egg in it. I havn't had anything with egg for a long time, since my 6yr old is allergic to eggs. Could eggs be giving me this problem?
Don't worry......I'm not going to go back to eating gluten. Staying GFCF helps with my neuro symptoms, and I'm also nursing and gluten/casein makes the baby sick. I'm just wondering if I need to stay away from eggs too. I guess I'd have to have an allergy test, or just try an egg challenge. Anyone else have these symptoms from eggs????
Oh, forgot to mention, that my biopsy and blood work came back negative, and the genetics test showed one gene for "gluten sensitivity". So, even though I don't have celiac, I have ALL of the symptoms (okay, not ALL, but many!!!) ......and they go away when I don't eat gluten/casein!! _________________ Mary (37) GFCF/dye free

I hear ya Mary! My tests came back sensitive for gluten too, even though I screwed them up with my diet.
IMHO it sounds like you got contaminated at Cracker Barrel. But you could always try going egg-free for a few weeks, see if that helps. _________________ Ostrich :>--O==={

It does sound like you got contaminated at Cracker Barrel...could the chicken have contained gluten? Sometimes raw chicken is injected with a solution that contains gluten. I know one time my DD got very sick after eating at a restaurant and all she had was a piece of chicken and strawberries and the manager said he was very careful to clean the grill and he seemed knowledgeable about CD....the only thing I could come up with was that the chicken was not GF.......I sure hope you get to feeling better...... _________________ Connie, mom to Ina, 13 y/o with CD |

We ate there Saturday evening. I had mild "D" Sunday, but the big reaction was last night. Does that make sense? _________________ Mary (37) GFCF/dye free

It makes perfect sense. Usually with my son if glutened by cross contamination (takes VERY little to set him off) in AM hours, by PM he'll react with 2-4 D's and be done.
However, if actual food contains unknown gluten and consumed in AM, he'll react that night with the D's but by the next day all heck will break loose, that day will be his worst, but it'll take 2-3 days after that to get back to normal. _________________ Kristie M.

oopps.......I meant "Saturday" we ate there. I corrected the other post. I guess it still could have been from that. I guess I better pay attention to the eggs just in case. I had one cookie (with egg) Sunday, and one on Monday. _________________ Mary (37) GFCF/dye free

| MaryK, I have an instant reaction to egg yolks (they are an IBS trigger for me). Perhaps you should try to avoid them for a while ... |
