Has anyone tried this yet? I can only find it on his website and it looks great! However, with shipping, it will cost about $15 per loaf - a bit steep. Didn't know if anyone had seen it in an actual store and tried it.

Haven't tried it, but both Bakers (Kroger) and Whole Foods carries their stuff. _________________ Ostrich :>--O==={

We have all kinds of stores here that carry his stuff too - as yet none of them have this particular mix.

I'll keep my eyes peeled for it - since they're in our back yard. Did they really think it would cost $10 to ship? I can't imagine it would be that expensive. _________________ Cheers!

Here's the link to the GLUTEN FREE HEARTY WHOLE GRAIN BREAD MIX in case you're wondering what we're talking about:
Moist, delicious and bursting with whole grains and seeds. The flavor and texture are complex and deeply satisfying. Specially designed for those sensitive to wheat or gluten, this mix contains: whole grain buckwheat, garbanzo bean flour, potato starch, cornstarch, sunflower seeds, sesame seeds, whole grain sorghum flour, tapioca flour, turbinado sugar, cocoa powder, evaporated cane juice sugar, fava bean flour, molasses powder, xanthan gum, caraway seeds, active dry yeast, sea salt, whole grain teff, potato flour, onion powder, guar gum and soy lecithin. For bread machine or by hand, this mix makes 1- 1/2 lb loaf. _________________ Cheers!

To back up Liz's original question: has anybody tried it yet? I'm tired of buying different bread mixes that I'm never going to use, but I'm still on the lookout for cheaper bread that tastes just as good as the Bread by Anna. _________________ Ostrich :>--O==={

I tried this bread this week, and I have to say I thought it was horrid. The caraway flavor was way too strong, and the garfava taste came through loud and clear. My kids wouldn't touch it. $5 of my money straight in the trash. Oh, well, they still make a great chocolate cake mix. _________________ -Colleen

It was terrible. The brownies were awesome. And the chocolate chip cookies. _________________ Now faith is being sure of what you hope for and certain of what you do not see. -Hebrews 11:1

So far, I am a fan of the Wonderful GF bread mix (just made my first loaf in my new machine and it turned out great), but I haven't seen this anywhere but on the Bob's site.

I've heard that the white bread is good, but I KNOW the whole wheat is bad. _________________ Now faith is being sure of what you hope for and certain of what you do not see. -Hebrews 11:1

IMHO the white bread is OK if you don't mind using bean-based flour. To me the bean flavor came across too strong.
Plus the whole loaf smelled like old socks. _________________ Ostrich :>--O==={

There is a little bit of a bean flavor to the bread, but honestly, I am thinking that is why it may have a better texture than some of the more rice-based breads I've had. I am going to experiement a bit with custom mixes too, though; I am still looking for a good amaranth bread recipe, and I just bought a copy of the Gluten Free Gourmet bakes bread to experiment with as well.
