| Does anyone have any experience with how accomodating to celiacs Carnival cruise lines is? I am planning a cruise on the Carnival Legend and have received conflicting information from Carnival on GF diet. First, I was told no problem, just speak with your waiter; when I checked again, I was told a flat no that they don't accomodate a GF diet. I don't know if they thought that I was expecting "special" food, not just modifying an entree so it would be GF for me. Any help is appreciated. Thanks. |

Augie,
Last month I went on a Carnival cruise with a friend of mine that had Celiacs disease (Oddly enough I was just diagnosed with having it as well this past week). Their meals are pretty easy to work with. At each dinner you will have a choice of ~5 starters, 2 salads, 5 entrees and 4 desserts. They will not cook a meal specifically for you but the Host/Hostess will work with you, if you explain your situation to him or her. Make sure you work with the host/hostess because the waiters really have no control over what you are served. Each night my firend was given the menu for the following night so that she would be prepared to order her meal. Our hostess was great and she really went out of her way to help my friend. They are really there to make you happy. You will see this when you get there. I would recommend that you get to your dining hall at the exact time that it opens so that you can speak to the host before it gets to busy. Good Luck! |

| Thanks for the info! It really shouldn't be any different that eating out anywhere else, I suppose. We are looking forward to the cruise. |

I found a travel agency (the owner is a celiac) who charters Celiac Cruises where the ship keeps a special, GF kitchen & all the food they serve is GF! Imagine a whole menu of GF gourmet food. I can't wait to go on my 1st cruise. There's on to Alaska out of Seattle in June. I've got a list of the cruises if anyone's interested. The website is at home; all try to post it tomorrow! _________________ Diagnosed with celiac disease (bloodwork & biopsy). GF (again in my adult life) since March 2005. |
