Warning

Unless you or your wife practices Natural Family Planning, NFP, this thread will be Too Much Information.

I put this in the Religious Discussions, because the families that practice NFP that I know are Catholic.

OK, now for the problem.
I went GF December 6. It happened to be at the start of my cycle. Before that my morning temps were normal. About 4 days into my cycle, and being GF, my temps dropped. And I mean dropped. I had nothing higher than 97.4 with some as low as 96.9. Shocked With other symptoms, mucus and cervix position, I calculated that my ovulation took place with a temp of 98.0. Normal ovulation temps are closer to 98.6. Shocked

Temps this low normally indicate thyroid issues, but my temps were normal before being GF.

Has anyone else heard of this? Or did this happen to you?

It wouldn't surprise me or worry me particularly. I went from hypo-thyroid like symptoms to more hyper-thyroid like very quickly after changing diet. (and it effects everyone differently so it doesn't surprise me you had the opposite effect I did) It can take a few months for everything to settle out at the new equilibrium points.

My temps have always run very low. If I have a 98.6 degree temp, I have a fever. I've been tested for thyroid issues more than once, and everything's always been fine. Though, if your temps have always been higher - it probably would not hurt to get it checked out. Take a copy of your chart with you, so you can show the temp variations.

Hey, other people have that problem too! My average temp. is 97 degrees. Of course, none of the school nurses ever believed me. Rolling Eyes

I have found some information about low temps.

The only thing they really show is thyroid issues, well, low thyroid. There are some self help things I can do to increase my thyroid production. I am trying those (they don't include eating wheat Laughing ) and I will talk to my doctor in another month.

I don't have an appointment for 3 months, but I see him every week for my B-12 shot.

The only reason it really bothers me, is that I use those temps! Confused And if they are out of wack, I could have an issue.
