It's not the end of the world - just the end of the world of food and nutrition as you have known it thus far, and the beginning of a better one!

Hi K,
Welcome to the board. Sorry to hear about your diagnosis. Yeah - it'll rock your world for a little bit, but you'll be OK!! The best thing, is that now you know why you've been feeling like crap and can do something about it!! After awhile, it'll be second nature. I've been GF for almost 4 years now, I can't remember what it's like being NGF. It feels like I've always been this way.
If you haven't seen it, please check out Our Thread on GF Diet Boot Camp. It has lots of info for those just diagnosed.
Good luck in your GF Journey!! Please don't be afraid to ask questions. The more you ask, the more you'll know, the better you'll feel. Knowledge is Health!! _________________ Al

Welcome,
Hang in there. Things will get better. The first few months expect to be confused and frustrated. Once you make it through your first year, it becomes second nature. The easiest thing for us was to just eat the basics for a while (potatoes, rice, chicken, veggies). Then gradually branch out. There are a lot of ready made foods and breads available. It took me a while to get brave enough to start baking from scratch -- I'm not much of a cook as it is. Looking through a lot of the old posts really helped me a lot -- and most of the time, calling manufacturers is the best way to get the most accurate anwers.
Feel free to ask lots of questions - it's been great for me to be able to get advice from those who've already 'been there'. _________________ Kim --

The good news is now you know what you are up against and there is a way to deal with it. This forum will help you. You are going to get better and gain control.
You will get frustrated as you start to shop and look around at first. It is ok and normal, I promise. I used to get so emotional shopping that I would walk out of the grocery store without buying anything. Going to a Celiac aware place like a Whole Foods to shop at first was a great help.
Keep a positive outlook. Things are getting better and easier to go Gluten Free all the time. It has changed a ton just in the year and a half I have been dealing with it.

Welcome to the board! We have all been where you are right now. When I was first diagnosed, I would go to the grocery store and just cry because it seemed like I couldn't eat anything. It is hard at first, but it will get better. 1.5 years later, it is just second nature to me now.
Let us know how we can help you! _________________ -Colleen

Second that. And then I would cry when I saw the prices on the stuff I could eat!
Anywho, hello and welcome kreynolds! Let us know if there's anything we can do to help.  _________________ Ostrich :>--O==={
