All these problems are workable. You can't fix religion.

It isn't religion that is the problem. People that use a religion as an excuse to behave poorly are the problem.

As far as the original question goes, no, I do not believe we planned our own challenges. I do believe, however, that we agreed to accept the challenges that Heavenly Father chose for us. After we are born, the veil is drawn between the pre-existence and the mortal world. Then we get to figure it out on our own.

I know it seems like sometimes we have big challenges. But everyone has challenges, even if they are not always apparent to us as an outside observer.

I have a BIG problem with religion, too. So I just live my faith, not practice a religion.

I don't think we made these decisions before we came into being. But I do believe that when God says we will suffer for the sins of our fathers, He means it. I don't think we are being singled out and punished, I just think that the sin of one generation makes the next generation harder to live. For instance, who thougth it would be a good idea to grind up dead cows and feed them to other cows? Man. And they introduced Mad Cow Disease (by the way, they named it that because PMS was already taken! Wink ) because they fooled around with God's perfect creation trying to make it better. We have not been able to eliminate it, and it is going to be worse for the next generation.

I don't believe in predestination; I do believe we all have free will. And I choose no gluten. Smile

My belief--since it was asked for--is that we are not Human beings having a spiritual experience. We are SPIRITUAL beings having a human experience so that we can learn every facet, discipline, power, attitude and experience of humanity over many lifetimes to complete our journey. I do believe we choose our pathways before we come back so that we can add missing components to our "curriculum", but we also have the free will to choose another way once we are here. No matter how good our intentions are--there is such a thing as biting off more than we can chew. I believe that symantics get in the way of living because 'religions' profess to know God's will when, actually, they are political factions fighting for corporeal power and they couldn't care less about God's will as long as the money flows in and they can tell others how to live. I believe there are organizations who do clarify God's will to others and aid people in finding the "God within", living in Love and Truth, and teaching to find and access our connections to Angels and Saints and our Higher Selves and we need to create another category for these groups to belong to to eliminate the confusion. I believe that it's not enough to love God and our neighbors. We must also love ourselves AND our bodies, diseases, trials, etc. because they are a part of who we are and a miracle gift to us from God to hasten our Journey to completeness. (I also believe that it is acceptable to sometimes yell at God. She has a sense of humor and it shows we're paying attention Laughing ) Sorry my belief system was so wordy, but, there it is.

I LOVE that movie. It gives me a new point or two to ponder everytime I see it, but the belief system was mine long before the movie came along. My teachers HAVE been Angels and Saints Laughing
