We have a new product right here in central Iowa! A radio personality and entrepreneur gave up bread products for diet reasons. Pizza was something that he missed the most, so he and his wife have 'invented' a pizza crust made solely out of cheese. It's supposed to have the same consistancy as the normal bread crust. There are going to be samples this weekend and I'm hoping to stop by and try it. I'll let you know what I think. I did hear on his radio show this morning that he's had several phone calls from celiacs across the country. He is currently working on distribution options. Currently it's just being sold in Hy-Vee stores in the Des Moines area. Anyway, I was just so excited I had to share. If you want the whole story he has it on his website... http://www.vanhardin.com/pizzastory.html
I'm anxious to try and... and check out the rest of the ingredients! _________________ Kim --

Mmmm, more cheese for my pizza....
This's an awesome idea! But I don't want to drive to IA to get pizza crust. Do you know if there'll be anywhere outside Des Moines? _________________ Ostrich :>--O==={

Update:
The cheese crust pizza is now available at all Hy-Vee food stores (midwest chain). Just ask the frozen food manager to get them for you. They are also working on national distribution.
We did try this pizza. It is actually pretty good. My daughter wasn't overly impressed, but I did like it. It is VERY cheesy in taste, so you don't eat as many slices as you would a normal pizza. You do have to follow the directions and make sure and let it set the 5minutes after baking (so the crust gets firm). I wouldn't want it to be the only kind of pizza we eat -- We also like the chebe crust mix. The cheese crust pizzas sell for about $8 each. (medium sized). We like to add some extra toppings. _________________ Kim --

| Interesting.... HyVee is where we do much of our grocery shopping. The one near us has all their GF food in one central location in their health/natural foods area. LOVE it. I'll have to look for those, my dh would love them!! |
