I tried to contact them about this and got nowhere with them. I was drinking the Chai's but read on the label they contain citric acid and natural flavoring.
I know citric acid is safe if produced in the US and some natural flavorings are OK but I think my question blew their minds or something. Never got back to me after the initial call. Would like to find out as I like the drink.

I was also feeling kind of yuck after some of their drinks but I honestly think it's the milk. I've been keeping track of dairy and if I consume a little, I'm OK. If I have more than a glass of milk per day, I have some cramping so I think I'm a bit sensitive to dairy. Can't do soy milk so I limit my dairy intake.

One thing is for sure....Celiac's are the world's experts on food and drink!

I fully admit, I love Starbucks! If there isn't a local type coffeeshop available, I'll gladly go there. I know, I'm a corporate America whore.... sorry!

But, I was told right off the bat that any of the "mixed" drinks are off limits. And, that I was really taking my chances with anything else. *sigh*

My inlaws took me to "their" local cafe' the other night, and it was the most awesome place. I so wish I lived near them so I could patronize the place more often. =)

Oddly enough, I hate coffee unless it's cold and full of chocolate and sugar.

Um, isn't that more of a chocolate-coffee shake? Laughing

Yep... M O C H A!!

Although, a coffee chocolate shake sounds divine!!

I had an ice white chocolate soy mocha at that "mom and pop coffee house" in St. Louis and it was just the best I've ever had. Even my dh liked it, and he rarely likes any coffee drinks, and likes anything with soy even less.

As I'm saying "mocha" over and over in my head.... I'm hearing Homer Simpson saying, "DOOOOO NUTS!!"

I am a devout StarBucks fan personally.
I was under the impression most of the drinks I get there should be safe (GF). I will have the hot Caramel Machiatos and the Mocha Fraps on occasion. So far, I have not noticed an issue. Perhaps the wonderful taste blinds me to any reactions Smile

I really wish StarBucks would post a definite "gluten free list" on their website. When I go to Google, and search Starbucks.com for the word Gluten or Celiac, I get zero hits. It amazes me that with so many people calling them asking that they don't just post something on their website about it. Anyone from Starbucks listening?

You need to find a Foster's Freeze. OOH, wait...I don't know if they are GF. Well any how I worked in one decades ago (places like this never change) And I made Choco-Coffee shakes often. They have a coffee flavored syrup. The best recipe is soft serve with hot fudge and coffee syrup. The hot fudge is better than chocolate. MMMmm, memories..

On the Starbucks topic, I love a good Caramel frap and I ussually order the Venti and share with my three girls. We consider it an ultimate indulgence. Laughing It always makes Juleah feel nasty with in 10 minutes. I assume it is the dairy. In and out shakes do the same to her. I wonder if there isn't lactic acid used in them to add to the 'natural' sweetness. Juleah is lactose intol. but not severely. Lactaid wont save her from the swimming belly feeling she gets after an IN and Out shake. We don't share a Frapp often but I was thinking last time we need to find a new treat.

Here is the list I just got from their phone customer service.

Anything with the following is NOT gluten free:
- Java/Chocolate Chips
- Malt Powder (discontinued)
- Vanilla Bean Powder (in Frappucinos)
- Egg Nog (sometimes not GF)
