I just got a Penzey's catalog in the mail yesterday! The spices look awesome!! |
Penzey's spices are indeed awesome. I'm fortunate to live within a short drivng distance of a few of their stores.
FWIW, at one time their taco seasoning was not gluten free. I have not checked the GF status recently. |
I would definately call on the Taco Seasoning. I went there for the first time today. I asked the guy working about the GF status of their spices and he said the taco seasoning and soup bases were off limits. But he didn't seem too bright so... seems like it would be good to double check w/ their corporate. _________________ Cheers!

We brown our ground beef and cook with it onions & garlic then add salt, pepper, and dry cilantro. We use corn chips instead of taco shells and heap our plates with toppings.
One of our favorite meals and we leave the table full! _________________ "I will praise you as long as I live, and in your name I will lift up my hands." Psalm 63:4

Not to rain on anyone here in this valuable and wonderful forum, but I've avoided the Old El Paso taco shells because of trans fat content.
I've found others that are zero trans fat, 100 % white corn, though can't recall brand name.
By necessity, we all get good at reading and deciphering ingredient lists. I always tried very hard to avoid trans fats anyway, and becoming GF is almost a blessing because there's no way I tangle with the seductive baked goods that are loaded with it.
I fix a lot of Mexican-style food at home and have managed not to poison myself, so I feel pretty confident about it. I love the simplicity and the color and the freshness! Great stuff! _________________ Freed from Gluten, July 2006 |

Please post the brand when you remember it. Avoiding trans fats would be another plus for me. _________________ Ostrich :>--O==={
