Hi Katarah's Mom,

If her doctor is no help, you need to switch. Yes it's scary, but this is the health of your daughter you're dealing with...

Yes, it's very possible for her to feel it 2 days later. Some will feel it for a week or more!

How old is Katarah again?

I am soooo sorry for the horrible time you and your daughter are having! My kids are 4 yrs and 18 mo - both had such a reacton to gluten as infants that I have never fed them any (except by mistake) so I did not have the health problems or doctors issues you are having. On the other hand, there is no chance of them getting a positive diagnosis from a biopsy because they will not show any intestional damage. Fortunately my doctor supports my choice to keep them gluten free.

I was wondering, since you have Medicaid (which I also have) if you might receive WIC (women, infants & children) support? I do, and have no-cost appointments every 6 months with a dietician at the state health dept. who has had a lot of good information on gluten free diets. She also has me fill out a worksheet on the foods my kids eats and she checks it to be sure they are getting good nutrition. WIC is a federal nutrition program, though I believe each state may mange it a bit differently, I would think the state health dept. would be the place to ask about it.

I can really sympathize, it feels so awful when I feed them something I thought would be OK and they start crying. You do the best you can - don't let anyone tell you you're not trying hard enough!! They have no idea how hard it is to keep stuff out of kids mouths!! Good luck!!
