Hi everyone,
In October 2007, my girlfriend and me will get married here in The Netherlands. My girlfriend (soon to be wife) is a celiac patient (and has DH). Since her diagnosis she's not really the travelling type, BUT we both want to go to Florida for our Honeymoon. We'll be travelling from the south (Miami) to the middle (Orland area).
I've found a hotel in Miami that wants to accomodate the breakfast glutenfree, but I'm having trouble finding similair hotels/motels in the Orlando area.
Does anybody know if the are hotels in the Orlando area that serve glutenfree breakfast? And/or does anybody know a got way for a European to rent a small condo/house in that area, so we can have a controlled breakfast?
Thanks a million, in advance.

Disney World has a hotel and they can do gluten free foods. their theme park is also able to provide gluten free meals.
From what I have heard, they are very good with providing the dietary needs for Celiacs. _________________

Hey Wouter - welcome to the board!
You might want to contact the local leadership in Orlando; they've probably got a much better idea of good places to stay and could point you in the right direction...

Wouter, If you are going to the theme parks there will be lots of walking so I'd suggest eating a light breakfast in your motel room. This way you can get to the parks early (before the popular rides have long lines). If you'll be staying less than a week it would be much easier to find a motel room with a kitchenette than a condo. Here's a motel chain that might be what you are looking for:
http://www.extendedstayamerica.com/findHotel/hotelList.asp?metroID=252
My father stayed in one of these for several weeks while he was looking for a place to rent near his new job. I know that several of the other motel chains offer kitchenettes as well.
Even if the motel doesn't offer a gluten free breakfast, you can buy a loaf of gluten free bread or some gluten free cereal (you can order it online ahead of time and have it shipped to the motel, bring some in your checked luggage, or go to a health food store) and your girlfriend can have some orange juice, hot tea or coffee, and then cereal or toast.
I brought my own cereal with me to the continental breakfast at the motel this weekend and was never even asked why. I don't think the family that ran the motel really wanted to know why a half awake twenty-something was holding onto a box of cocoa pebbles (don't know if you have them across the pond, but fruity and cocoa pebbles are a kid's cold cereal that's available in any grocery store and gluten free http://www.kraftfoods.com/PostCereals/kids.htm ) and wandering in 15 minutes before breakfast ended. _________________ Lauren
