Hi Guys,
I am 43. I am about 16 months GF. Still having issues. I understand that someone my age can be slow to heal up. As part of attempting to get this all under control my Doctor ordered follow up blood tests and had me do the Enterolab Gluten Sensitivity Stool Test. Here is my blood results:
AntiGliadin Antibody Panel
Gliadin Antibody (IGA) < 3 • < 11 is negative • 11-17 Equivocal • > 17 Positive
Gliadin Antibody (IGG) < 3 • < 11 is negative • 11-17 Equivocal • > 17 Positive
Tissue Transglutaminase
TTG Antibody IGG < 3 • < 7 is negative • 8-10 Equivocal • > 11 Positive
TTG Antibody IGA < 3 • < 5 is negative • 5-8 Equivocal • >8 Positive
Good news right? I thought so. Today, here is the Entrolab results:
Gluten Sensitivity Stool Test
Fecal Antigliadin IgA 135 (Normal Range <10 Units)
I have been through my diet with a fine tooth comb. Had a nutritionist and Naturopathic Doctors go over my diet via multi week food journals. My GI Doc believes I am managing the GF diet based upon follow up blood work and biopsy. I make just about every meal from scratch and use almost exclusively GF labeled products if not using naked food. If I eat out it is only at places that have clear GF statements and I watch em like a hawk. Have contacted manufacturers of my supplements, meds, toothpaste etc.... New pots, pans, cutting boards, utensils, toaster etc...... If I doubt the GF status of anything it does not go into my mouth, period! I definitely do not cheat at this diet.
So anyone got any ideas? My Doctor is calling Dr. Fine tomorrow. The mixed results have me confused. I think my Doc is too. I am frustrated. Thanks for any help. _________________ "When you come to a fork in the road, take it." - YOGI BERRA |

Wow Lyle, I'd be confused too!! I am glad your Doc is calling Dr. Fine, maybe Dr Fine will have you retested. I have heard of Enterolab mixing up results [you are getting someone else's test results].
Did your Doc say what labs they sent your blood work too? Not all labs are created equal. Prometheus, Mayo Clinic, and a couple of others are known for their proper processing of CD Panels.
Gosh - good luck in tracking this down. Please, keep us updated!!
Take care! _________________ Al

The lab that did the blood work is the same lab that gave me the positive test that initial diagnosis was made through. Quest Diagnostics in the Seattle. http://www.questdiagnostics.com/hcp/topics/gastroent/celiac.html?gastroent I was in the 80's on one and the 30's on the other initially. Every test since from them has been negative with this last one being the lowest yet.
I'm still waiting to hear what Dr. Fine said.
I also have a Bacterial Overgrowth infection that took forever to diagnose. I start treating that tomorrow finally!
Thanks Al! _________________ "When you come to a fork in the road, take it." - YOGI BERRA |
