Does anyone know where I can purchase corn tortillas? I have looked online and have looked at my local health food stores and can't find them.
Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

They are available in most regular grocery stores. Many times they are in the refridgerated section. They are usually right next to the flour tortillas so make sure you grab the right ones.

Mission corn tortillas are gluten free. It says gluten free on the back of the package. It is available at most grocery stores. In fact, I have never been in a store that didn't carry them. Then again I ahve never been to NJ.

Hi!
I am from northern New Jersey too!! I live in Mountain Lakes (between Parsippany/Boonton/Denville) how about you (if you don't mind)? I have gotten corn tortillas a few times, and I think they're standard in all grocery stores, and I'm pretty sure most are GF too. Unfortunately, corn tortillas break very easily, and can't really be folded. They don't taste as good as flour ones either. They're great in quesadillas though.!

Hi Chris,

I live in Wayne, NJ and work in Pine Brook, NJ which is very close to Parsippany. I go grocery shopping @ Stop & Shop and haven't found them there. I will try the other grocery stores in my neighborhood and see if I have any luck.

Thanks.

Lacey, I can get the Mission corn tortillas in the Stop and Shops in New York. Look in the dairy section or the Ethnic foods section.

I'm in Northern NJ, too, and I believe Shop Rite has Mission tortillas, though I will have to double-check next time I'm there. Also try Whole Foods--there is one in Ridgewood and one in Montclair.
I hope this helps! Smile

Hi Lacey. I get them from a local supermarket. They're in the fresh bakery section next to the wheat tortillas. I buy a couple of packages at a time and keep them in the freezer, removing them, two or three at a time, as I need them. Then I microwave them for about 30 seconds, which defrosts them and makes them rollable. If you use them fresh, the same microwaving enables you to roll them.
Originally, I found them only in the freezer section of an out of town supermarket, then they stopped selling them for some reason. I did some web surfing and found some for sale locally. Love the web!!

I wrote to Whole Foods and asked if their corn tortillas are gluten free as there was nothing in the ingredients to alarm me yet they are not on their gluten free list. They wrote me back and said while they are indeed gluten free they are made in the same facility as their flour tortillas and therefore they cannot guarantee that they are safe for us to eat. I wonder if Mission Corn tortillas uses a separate facilty for their tortillas? It really is an issue with all that flour flying around. It only takes a little bit... Crying or Very sad
