Sweetened Condensed Milk****(M. E.)

2/3 cup sugar
1 cup Dry Milk Powder
3 tablespoons butter
1/3 cup boiling water

Put all ingredients in a blender and mix for 1 minute or until smooth.

Triple recipe:
2 cups sugar
3 cups dry milk powder
9 tablespoons butter
1 cup boiling water

If you chill this in the fridge for a couple of hours, it thickens up just like the canned condensed milk.......and it is much cheaper! Very Happy

Does anyone know of a DF alternative to condensed milk? my SIL is lactose intollerant, and I want to make something, but want her to be able to eat it too.

No trying to hijack Mrs P's thread, but I thought it might be good to keep them together.

When you say "dry milk powder", do you mean the instant non-fat dry milk at the grocery store, or the stuff from the health food store?

instant milk. (we always just called that dry milk when I was growing up.) This was my mother's recipe that she used to make treats more economical. With the price of instant milk now days, I don't know if it is still cheaper or not.
