I'm new to this forum, but I wanted to share a good source on GF/Vegan baked goods. Luckily, I live near the Azna Bakery and can get their GF/vegan stuff fresh---but she does have mail order. The website is http://www.aznaglutenfree.com/ but my pet peeve is that the individual ingredients are not listed on the website.
The staff is very friendly and knowledgable, however, and I would recommend you call or e-mail if you have questions on ingredients. I have tried the scones and shortbread cookies (tasty, but higher in sugar than I normally eat) and breads (Noni bread is sweet but best with nut butters and the like, and the Roasted Flax & Hemp bread has a bean-taste that goes best with things like cheese or tuna if you eat it).
I just bought a loaf of the flax/hemp bread and I'll put the ingredients from the label:
Azna GF Dry blend (patent pending) rice flour, pinto bean flour, tapioca starch, cornstarch, leavening, xanthan gum, guar gum, brown rice flour, sorghum flour, organic palm oil, organic hemp milk, hemp seeds, roasted flaxseed, apple cider vinegar, yeast, buckwheat, agave nectar, organic evaporated cane juice.
Nutrition facts (per "hearty slice")
276 calories, 13g fat (4g saturated), 0mg cholesterol, 65mg sodium, 37g carbohydrate (5g fiber, 7g sugar), 6g protein
P.s. I am not vegan, or even completely vegetarian, but I do try to make a lot of my protein sources non-animal |
