Kinnikinnick tapioca bread is fantastic. Look for it in the freezer section of your health food store, or order it online. They also have great gluten free doughnuts.
No matter which bread you choose, toast it first. All gluten free bread, except the homemade kind, needs to be toasted to be palatable. The Ener-G bread needs to be toasted a *lot* and still ends up tasting a bit like a hockey puck.
Also, consider looking for alternatives to sandwich bread, like corn tortillas or using lettuce leaves to make wrap sandwiches. |

Thanks for your quick responce!
I don't like corn tortillas for sandwiches. Not for peanut butter sandwiches, you know? And thats what I love- organic peanut butter on toast. For veggies its yummy, just not for my peanut butter. I am going to look for the bread you suggested! I did toast the Ener-G, man, it didn't help it much.
Would you believe I orginally thought I could eat the sprouted grains bread? Ha! I ate it for two weeks before I realized I was still eating gluten- and wheat!
So, you think the mixes taste good? The brownie mixes???
Kindredly~

Hi Lizzie! You absolutely can't beat the Gluten Free Pantry brownie mix!!! My hubby and I really dont' think that someone would be able to tell that it is GF; I would definately use this mix even if I didn't have to!
I also really like some of the GF Pantry bread mixes which I use in my bread machine. My favorites are the Multi-Grain bread with Seeds, the Manna from Anna and Italian bread/Pizza mix. I believe that you can bake them in your oven if you don't have a bread machine.
Good luck with your bread search and your GF diet (it's not so bad!) |
