|

I am going to have a little bit of extra money next payday, and I am planning to order some cases of Chebe. I have not experimented much with Chebe since it is not available near me and I have to order it online. Today's million dollar question is:
What's your favorite Chebe and how do you use it? I'm looking for which mixes you like the best and your creative things to do with them. I have used it for pizza crust and breadsticks, and there are a million recipes on their website. But I thought you guys might have even more ideas. I am dying for a GF pretzel, and I think Chebe might work well for that.
Thanks for any opinions! _________________ -Colleen

I like the italian seasoned breadsticks. Those are SOOOOOO good. We get them locally here. In Wild Oats. _________________ Now faith is being sure of what you hope for and certain of what you do not see. -Hebrews 11:1

I've never used Chebe, but I've seen it all over the place...
They are mixes, right?
Are they easy to prepare?
Do they also have frozen items? (I thought I saw these, but I wasn't sure.) _________________ ~Torrey

We bought some of their pizza mix a couple of weeks ago, but I haven't had time to experiment with it. _________________ Ostrich :>--O==={

We recently made crackers with our Chebe to put hummus on.
Just like their pizza which we make every other week, the crackers didn't stick around long.
I think the soup bowls (recipe found on back of pizza mix package) sounds pretty good! _________________ Kristie M.

| I use the All Purpose Mix to make pizza all too frequently. Actually, that's the only thing I use it for. |

We like the breadstick mix... we make it into little 'balls' instead of sticks. We just follow the recipe on the bag -- adding in shredded cheese. Very good. I'll have to try some of the other recipes... I didn't know there were so many! _________________ Kim --

We love the Chebe mixes. Our favorites are the foccacia and pizza mixes, they are easy to make and, to me, they are as good as homemade regular bread!
It is the only bread I like. _________________ Lisa gluten free since 12/07

Thanks to this thread, I found and purchased some different chebe mixes....so far we have made the bread sticks, (as a matter of fact Ina made these all by herself and was very proud) and she LOVED them, she sprinkled them with sesame seeds....yesterday, I made the foccacia bread mix and made chicken meat pies.....I made the mix according to directions, rolled it out thin, cut it into 5 inch circles, place shredded chicken with spices inside, folded it in half, crimped the edges with a fork and baked...very YUMMY....it made 8 pies and they are all gone and Ina ate every single of them herself (she did let me have one bite and it was tasty)
Thanks to all of you who shared about these wonderful mixes! _________________ Connie, mom to Ina, 13 y/o with CD |

Glad Ina likes the Chebe, Connie! I ended up buying the "no frills" chebe (see the very bottom of the order page). It is basicaly 4 5-pound bags of the all purpose Chebe. It was about half the price of ordering the individially packaged ones. It works realy well for rolls to have with dinner. I am still planning to try it for pretzels when I get around to it. _________________ -Colleen

Hi,
I have tried the tapioca bread at Whole Foods (not their brand, not frozen, but pre-sliced in bag), and it was terrible. It listed basically the same ingredients, and was dense, flavorless, and dry as a bone. For each tiny little sandwich, I had to take a bite and immediately take a drink of water to wash it down. It was so expensive that I forced myself to finish the loaf.
Please tell me that Chebe is different and better, before I spend $$$ on a product I might hate.
Thanks |
