Hello everyone!
Finally, my GF diet is working! I am no longer running to the bathroom. I have cut it down to 2-4 times a day!! I do not have nearly as much pain. In fact, I only notice it when I am lying in bed. My mood swings are gone and my other symptoms have seemed to disappear. Finally, I am back to normal -- even though it is still a long road ahead.

This was the longest 10 days of my life -- but well worth it.

I have one quick question, how long did you all wait before venturing out into the restaurant world? I want to give it time, but I feel so much better right now that I am just plain excited.

Thanks!

-Patrick

Hi Patrick,

WOW - I'm glad to hear you're seeing so much improvement. It makes it easier to stay on your diet Smile

One tip when going out...take your own salad dressing. That way, you always know that you can at least have a big salad. Just make sure you tell them no croutons! LOL I always forget. Lukily my wife is usually along to remind me Very Happy

I never really had a wait period. I was experimenting with the GF diet for several months before going fully GF. So by that time, I had figured out what things I could have.

Good luck!!

Patrick,

Your enthusiasm it contagious! That is just wonderful that you are feeling so good. I too found that within the first 2 weeks I was feeling a world of difference (I am going on seven weeks gf now). I went to a restaurant for the first time about 3 weeks after my diagnosis because it was my anniversary and I figured it was worth a try. I went to Bennigans (in Pa.) and had a plain steak and a potato. It was the only thing on the menu that was safe, but it was delicious. I have also been to Applebees and had a plain grilled chicken breast with garlic mashed potatoes. They gave me a double helping of potatoes because the vegetables that usually come with it were seasoned. I totally agree that you should bring your own salad dressing. I just put some in a little tupperware container and I'm all set. Just be really carefull to be very explicit that you can have no bread or breaded food with your meal, for example fried breaded onions on your steak or garlic bread served with your chicken. (that happened to me at both restaurants.) Honestly, I don't venture out to eat all that much because I'm just too nervous about getting glutened. Plus, my wonderful husband is making me such delicious meals at home I don't need to go out!!

Keep up the good work and the positive attitude. That has a lot to do with your success. Have a great day!
Your friend in Pennsylvania,
Chris

I was off of the G/F diet for 5 days. was on a liquid diet. The reason for that was I was in the hospital getting surgery done. My cancer Dr. took 4 lyphnomas out and did biopsies of the stomach. I also found out that I have narrowing of the esophgus above my hiatial hernia. the good news is that the lyphnomas are not cancer but there is some kind of infection that they have to find out what it is. they don't know if the lyphnomas will grow back there were 7 of them they took 4. 1 good thing is that I lost some of my weight & the bloating in my stomach. I will be able to fit in my wedding dress now lol. when I came home today I have been living on cozy shack rice pudding. I still have alot of gas in my stomach when I get rid of it I will be able to eat a regular meal which will be great I'm starving.
