There's been much talk of what one should pack for a trip. The photos below show the foodcase I packed for a 2 week trip to Germany. Due to language barriers and the EU's wheat starch stance, I chose to pack food I wouldn't have needed if vacationing in the US.
The first photo is of the bottom layer of the suitecase, err foodcase. The second photo includes the few items on the top layer. Some items packed were special requests for my aunt and cousin...Butterfingers, Lawry's Salsa Seasoning mix  , Karo Syrup, tea, molasses, etc.
Starting from the left corner moving clockwise, you'll find Bionature pasta, 2 TJs GF chicken stock, Scotti penne, 2 packages TJs Spanish style veggie dinners(vile!), tea, several of the aforementioned Lawry's products, McCormick's Enchilada Seasoning mix, 2 rice noodle dinners (vile!), in the bag are the two varieties of Karo Syrup and a jar of molasses (none of which broke), Bob's Red Mill Chocolate Cake Mix, chipotles in adobo, Gatorade and Chebe mix. In the pocket of the foodcase, there are several Lara bars and a few banana cookie bar things as well as the copy of the prescription my MD wrote for GF food.
The top layer includes a bag of Bionature Spaghetti, another Chebe mix, a mall amount of tamari and vanilla in a ziptop bag, Shar crackers and a bag of various flours and mixes. I premixed the dry ingredients for 2 loaves of bread and packed some brown rice flour mix, sweet rice flour, yeast, xanthan gum, etc. so I could bake cookies, spaetzle while I was there. there was some concern whether or not the customs officials would stop me for my bag of coke but they waived me right through...must not have that monkey on my back look.

I open this up hoping to see the much touted and very mythical Food Case and what do I find?!?!? Nothing! "A hand full of nothin'"
I'm beginning think that this Food Case is much like a Unicorn....

| I used this [img]http://image_url[/img] to place the website of the photos which are housed in Kodak Gallery, but it wouldn't work. I tried it several times. Any thought? I'm really not trying to be a tease! LOL |

I think that might be the problem. I haven't tried image shack, but l'll attempt upload the photos there later tonight, if I can figure out how. I wish I was more computer savy!
I've lost track of time and now I'm late...you're just going to have to wait a few more hours.  |

Way to tease, TEC! I'm a fan of Photobucket. It's pretty dummy proof. The account is free. You just find the picture you want and hit the big "upload" button. They even give you handy, pre-formatted html to paste in boards like these.

A lot...far more than the larger suitcase that was filled with clothes, but I have no idea as to the exact weight. |

Didn't the airline weigh it? I know when we've flown to Mexico, Jamaica & FL, the bags had to be 40 or so lbs. When we came back from FL in Apr, we got "yelled at" about one bag that was 44 lbs. They said they'd let it go, but they could charge extra.

I'm sure it was weighed, but I didn't ask. Actually, I used the self check-in and just turned in my bags after my boarding pass was printed and my passport was checked. I wonder when the weighed it...
I just looked at AA website each international flight passenger is allowed two checked bags that weigh up to 50 pounds. So, it must have been close to 50 pounds.
When my aunt flew back to Germany in May she exceeded her allowed weight. She chose to rearrange the contents of her 2 suitcases and carry on to avoid extra charges. Silly! In your case, what's 4 pounds? |
