Just wondering if anyone drinks Captain Morgan's Parrot Bay. Why I'm concerned is that it says it is a malt beverage, but in my Clan Thompson guide they list it as GF. It just sounds sooo good on a hot summer day.

They also list Smirnoff Ice, Ice Triple Black, and Twisted V line, and I'm sure they are also a malt beverage.

Hope you can give me the go ahead with the Captain Morgan's Parrot Bay.

Thanks,
Sharon

Anything with malt is off limits. Sorry. Capt Morgan rum was GF the last I knew.

This is what I have from Diageo...

Rum

All Captain Morgan Rums (excluding Parrot Bay Flavored Malt Beverages)

I got a very strange reply back from Diageo about the Flavored Malt Bevies. I'll post it when I get home.

Sharon, are you in Canada by chance? If so, those products may very well be GF. The last I knew, Ice in Canada was VODKA based - not malt based - thus making it GF [the last time I knew. it may have changed by now].

No I'm not from Canada, I'm across the pond from you. Our summer festival just ended and I didn't drink any of the malted beverages. They did serve wine, so that was fine. I do wish Bard's Tale was sold in Michigan. I've had New Grist, Redbridge, and I picked up a 12 pack of Bard's in Indianapolis on our way to Florida. Of the three my favorite is the Bard's and then New Grist. I'm not really a beer drinker, but once in awhile with pizza or mexican a beer hits the spot.

Thanks,
Sharon

Here's the strange response I got. I asked for clarification, but no answer yet.

Quote:
In regards to your inquiry, because all of the Smirnoff FMB's are triple
filtered, not triple distilled, any remaining gluten from the malt base is
removed and therefore can be considered gluten free. However, we have no
guarantee that the flavoring in these FMB's are gluten free due to them
coming from another company. If you have a sensitivity to gluten it would be
wise to discuss it with a physician before consuming the products.

Once again, thank you for contacting FMB Smirnoff.

I'd stay away from them...

Thanks Al! This was the thread I read.

It would be nice if a person could always get a STRAIGHT answer instead of the go around from some companies.
I think I'm done with these kinds of drinks based on this! Maybe this is the piece to the puzzle I've been needed this summer!

Thanks!
