I have managed to convince my gp to refer me to a specialist because she refused to order blood test for cd. Now I am wondering, since I am doing much better GF, why bother getting a diagnosis? My specialist apt is in October. There is no way I can continue eating gluten that long AND still go to work. What do I do? Ought I eat just small amounts steady, (minor problems) or BINGE heavily for a week or two before (big problems, but oh so much pleasure for a few hours) or just skip the testing altogether?
Any tips would be appreciated

Hi newbie, not sure if you are still around but i thought i would chime in here i accidently went gluten free when i was very very sick in and out of the hospital--thank God my family has insurance, but i was in and out and my friend got me on this gluten free shakes, i said so what i dont care about gluten, then i felt better and better until i introduced foods, then i decided gluten was fat, so i bought fat free items at the store, still got sick....so off i went to the drs. explaining my ordeal of trying to buy fat free foods as the diet was gluten free and i was better, she laughed and explained to me what it was. i was like oh. she then said you need to go back on a gluten diet so we can test you, i said oh HELL NO!!! i accidently got glutened once when i went out to eat and ended up in the er couldnt breathe etc etc. lost consciousness etc. finally i awoke and was like wth. dr. gave me an epipen and sent me on my way. so now i dont know if i am allergic or celiac, and to me it doesnt matter as i know its not good for me and i see it as poison. my dr. actually told me she was glad i didnt listen to her and that i looked tons better. i lost ALOT of weight, but now am evening out. my answer to you is, if you can stand that much longer of being in pain and having symptoms then go for it get an official test, if you were like me and running up hospital bills and being sick forever, for me i said forget it. you know whats best for you body and you dont need a dr. telling you that. if you know for sure it is the gluten dump it. do a test go a week or two gluten free see how you feel then eat some toast after you are feeling better and see what it does. if you have a reaction then you know. if not wait for the testing. thats all i can say. i dont need a dr. to tell me something i already know. i dont need a formal diagnosis. my dr. even asked if i wanted to be sent to an allergist, i was like no if i know it already do i need it?? i know what i am allergic too, including sulfa, do i need a test to tell me what i already know?? NOPE just my 2 cents here, my ways arent best for everyone, and someone else may want a formal diagnosis. but for me, i know that i know how i feel with and without gluten, and i gave up hospitals when i gave up gluten:)
again just my 2 cents _________________ Gluten is my cryptonite |
