I went to this restaurant named Woodlands Restaurant. It is a pure vegetarian Indian. I tried different foods, the server was nice and be sure I didn't eat any gluten food. I had some rice pancakes (which they said is wheat-free and made from rice only.) It was amazing experience. Their rice with vegetables in them. I recommend this place for celiacs in Northern Virginia area, as well as DC/MD if they would drive to this place.
here's their website: http://www.woodlandsrestaurants.com/
let me know what you think?
am I wrong about rice pancake being gluten free? I hope not! I am not sick yet |

*sniff* sounds delish. I will have to try to convince my parents to go there if we get up in that direction. (as I am a southerner and am spoilt by Bonefish Grill but have almost no indian food whatsoever (( _________________ Now faith is being sure of what you hope for and certain of what you do not see. -Hebrews 11:1

| I like Bonefish a lot - the last time I was there, the staff was very careful to make sure I didn't eat any of the wrong things. But if I remember correctly, you can pretty much count on a plain meal - a fish filet covered in x sauce, with side of potato, etc. But I liked it and would go back. |

I'm a huge fan of Indian food! I just can't get enough so I've learned to prepare it at hoome. Many recipes call for a product/spice/seasoning call asofetida. Unfortunately asofetida isn't gluten free...so be aware. Indian restaurants use it liberally.
The rice pancake (idily sp?) could very well be gluten free, but it's possible there are contamination issues to deal with. Did the bread look like this? If so, you've now got a recipe! |
