I have found 2 woman that live within 3 miles of my house with what I would say is DH! --- one girl has battling with it since 2003 and went off gluten the day after we met and discussed the possibility of her being gluten intolorant. The itching stopped within days and the rash started going away. The other woman I spoke to was just yesterday - but from the things she said to me about her condition... definately sounds like it. The irony of the whole thing is that all three of us have been to the same dermatologist leaving with the same diagnosis - EXCEMA - you know.... I just might have to stand on the street corner and preach!

Well done D. Keep up the good work! Are there any other specialists in your area? Did he test for DH?

no - he didn't test for DH - one doc that Pam (the one that is confirmed) said that a doc told her that an allergy to Ibuprofin (spelling?) was causing her reaction - that even being "around" people that took Ibuprofin was bad for her ... ????? how weird is that? We continued to talk and she was almost denying it and I told her that "maybe she hadn't suffered enough" to try going gluten free as an option... I said it honestly and bluntly - she later said that those were the words that put her over the edge with her decision...

I've got a PA friend that works in a family practice - he said that the hospital specialists are always looking for new subjects for some publication that they put out - he said he would bring up the topic of CD and see if they would like to raise the level of awareness in this area... I've called the local Dermatologist that saw all three of us and told him about what I found out (actually I spoke to his nurse) she was pretty rude to me - like I knew more about my body or something... ??

I'm praying about it - asking the Lord not to let me go through this in vain - I want to help others. I feel like a door will open for a specialist in my area to raise the awareness. I've asked my gym to have a class on it - they are run by the hospital - they didn't want to mess with discussing nutrition... it's an area for a specialist - I guess you have to have a license to tell people what to eat and what not to eat.

One Sunday in church we had a potluck - a visiting preacher (recently diagnosed with CD), Pam and I ate a meal that I prepared (gluten free of course) There is one other lady in my church that has undiagnosed CD - amazing since we have a very small church with an attendance of about 80 on Sunday mornings.. how many other people are suffering needlessly??

My dentist was very interested in my findings... I told him because he looks in peoples mouths daily and may find someone with mouth ulcers that he can help. I've not had a single one since I've been GF - He said that it was a personal reason why he was so interested... he has suspected that some sort of food was causing his gastric problems but he couldn't even pin point it. I'll be calling him to find out how he's doing.

I could go on and on about the conversations I've had with people - I DID find someone else ( a client) that said she had a rash that wouldn't go away... she said she has moderately stopped eating wheat products and the rash disappeared.

I've been glutening myself here and there... but I'm getting better at staying GF -

I have a definate progression of symtoms - first the Itch - than the bloating and pain in my joints especially behind my knees... bloating - gas - and then the fatigue is the lingering symtom - takes about 2 weeks to get it all out of my system.

Boy I could sure eat a chocolate chip cookie!! but it's just not worth it.
