I thought we had an old thread on this, but I couldn't find it, so I am starting a new one.

My daughter's school is having a magazine drive, and I am qoing to have to pony up some cash and subscribe to something. What magazines do you subscribe to? Maybe you already know of a good one that might be on her list. Neither Living Without nor Gluten Free living are on the list.

I currently subscribe to Mother Earth News and Backyard Poultry. I think I might try Martha Stewart Living for a year and see how I like it. Her stuff has gotten a bit more on my level since she got out of the "Gray Bar Motel".

Any other gems out there?

I keep getting the What On Earth catalog, even though I don't subscribe. Does that count? I've done all my Christmas shopping from that place in the past. Laughing

DH gets all sorts of APA and pscyh catalogs, but I don't think that's what you're looking for...

Not everyone's cup 'o' tea, but I like The New Yorker for the fiction and thought-provoking takes on issues and people and of course, the cartoons Smile , and Utne reader. Both are pretty darn liberal.

Real Simple is one I got as a bonus for my newspaper subscription, and it's not too bad. A thousand ideas on how to simplify your life, as if I had the time...

How about kid's mags? My boys get National Geographic Kids, Ranger Rick and Highlights. Keeps them busy for hours!

Mothering is a great mag too, if one is an earthy mama.

Hmmm....The Family Handyman, GF living are the only 2 right now. I should subscribe to Cooks Illustrated since I buy it at the grocery store all the time.

Yeah, I don't subscribe to any magazines, myself...

I used to get Living Without, but that's about it...
Every now and again, when I am (really) bored on a Sunday, I'll get some gossip-y rag mag like People or EW to read after my New York Times, but that's pretty much it...
Being in the pharma industry and writing copy all day, a lot of what I do entails reading a lot of medical journal articles...

Oh, and Os, I get What On Earth, too...also, check out Uncommon Goods--similar kind of quirky items... Wink

I just got hit up for magazine sale from fake niece...tis the season.

I get Fine Cooking and Cook's Illustrated. I've decided not to renew Fine Cooking. I think it's a little behind the food times and the writing and recipes no longer interest me. The sad part is I don't hink I've fixed anything from that entire subscription...and I get the last one next month!

I'm still loving Cook's Illustrated though. I love the science--they whys and the hows--behind food prep and CI offers great explanantions. I've found that I make at least a few recipes from each mag and have never had a dud. The 15 minute fudge recipe came from CI.

Thanks for the opinions, all. The final shakedown for cash is today, so I will see if any of those mags are on the list. I know I'm getting Martha's magazine. I need more in my life to feel inadequate about. Very Happy

I like Rider magazine but it's for motorcycles so I don't think many here would be interested.

I'm a fitness geek so I subscribe to Woman's Health & Fitness, and my mom sends me Prevention (I'm going to let WH go though when it's done). My MIL sends us National Geographic. We get the local paper. That's all hard enough to keep up with !

I haven't subscribed yet, but since I buy it every month I should. I get Computer Shoppers every month. I started buying them when I was looking for a computer, but I decided to keep getting them because they have some great tips on dealing with anything electronic. I know not many people will be interested in this, but I really enjoy it.
