I just ordered two new mixes from Bob's Red Mill- yes, I'm lazy Embarassed and I LOVE mixes. They have a cornbread mix that is moist and not too crumbly. They also came out with a Whole Grain Bread Mix- it has great flavor and texture, something I've been missing desperately since going gf. The Whole Grain mix was really pretty easy to make and I ate it all in a day- it was so good warm from the oven and with a bit of soup, simply irresistible. Very Happy

So far all of the products I have tried from Bob's Red Mill are absolutely fantastic! I have tried a chocolate cake mix that is better than any chocolate cake I have ever had! I have also tried and excellent sandwich bread mix. They also have an awesome gluten free all purpose flour that can be put in pretty much any recipe that you may have pre-Celiac. I have had great experiences with it. Very Happy

Great news! Thanks for sharing! Smile

As I mentioned on another earlier post, my sis got me a bread machine for Xmas, so I'm curious to try some mixes! Smile

How do those Bob's mixes compare to Bread from Anna? So far, on the rare occasion we make a bread from a mix, we use Anna's Breads and really really like hers. The varieties we've baked have come out very close to the real thing, rising into nice full loaves with great taste and texture.

I'm going to second Mike's question. Has anybody tried the new Redmill mixes vs. the Anna ones? Bread by Anna has been the closest thing to normal bread that we've found.

I have never tried the Anna's mixes, but I can tell you that the Bob's Red Mill are very close to the real thing and do absolutely great in a bread machine. It tastes really great too!

I have tried Annas breads at the U of Chicago's Celiac testing day and they are great. Three times now I have brought them home and gotten super rising loaves that are not fully cooked in my breadmachine. I have tried three different settings. I have called and talked to people at Annas and cannot get it right. At $6 a mix it is an expensive venture to keep trying.

Bobs on the other hand cooks like a charm everytime on the GF setting (which is nice because it is so much shorter). It is perfect when warm and only a little crumbly later. It seems a little more "dense" than the properly cooked Annas.

I buy the Bobs on Amazon and can get it for less than half the price of the Annas. Bobs whole grain bread is also very good, if you like a heavy whole grain.

I absolutely HATE the Bob's Red Mill hearty whole grain bread mix. So gross. Glad you guys like it, but I think it is nasty.

Have you tried baking the Anna's bread in the oven? It's always worked perfectly for me when baked in the oven.

Second the oven technique. For me it's easier to use the oven rather than the bread machine. The machine has too many quirks to worry about.

3rd the oven. I prefer oven bread over machine bread. To be fair tho - we did not tweak the machine settings...

I hated the Red Mills whole grain bread cause it has some spice in it that I hate. I wish someone else would eat but it just sits in my freezer. I haven't tried the other ones yet though. I'm trying the Namaste next.

I have found that the oven works better than the bread machine on all of the bread mixes I have used so far. When I make the Bob's mix in the oven, it is less dense and looks and tastes like the real thing.
