Enterolab results back today..I was below the upper limit on everything meaning that I have no direct evidence of active gluten sensitivity and no evidence of gluten-induced auto-immune reaction BUT it showed that I have one of the main genes that predisposes to gluten-sensitivity and celiac sprue ( HLA-DQB1 Molecular analysis, Allele 1 0202 and HLA-DQB1 Molecular analysis, Allele 2 0301 and the serological equivalent is HLA-DQ 2,3 (subtype 2,7)......
So can I eat gluten or NOT????????????! I am really not trying to be stupid and I am sorry if I should know the answer...but I have now been gluten-free for about 2 weeks and have only noticed vert minimal improvement...I have migraines, sarcodisis of the skin, constant gas and bloating, joint pain and fatigue. Help!

Thanks to all that reply...please do so quickly if you can. I need answers.
I also posted this question on the pre-dx topic as well.

Hi, Deb. Sorry you are having a hard time. Unfortunately, the genetic testing is not a guarantee of gluten sensitivity. About 30% (or something close to that number) of the population has these genes, but obviously not all of those people have celiac. It is only an indicator of the predisposition toward celiac and/or gluen sensitiviy.

If you feel like you have been totally GF and are not getting relief, you may have another intollerance. There are many on the board with intollerances to dairy, soy and corn, to name a few. If I were in your shoes, I would keep a food diary to capture everyting I was eating and how I reacted to it. You could also try an elimination diet, in which you only eat a very few foods, and then introduce new ones slowly to see if you are reacting to them.

Sorry you are not getting the answers you need from this testing. Has your doctor tested you fo the traditional things - celiac panel, vitamin and mineral levels, etc?

Hang in there. Maybe someone else will chime in with some other ideas.
