| Has anyone here had positive or negative experiences with this brand? Nothing on their site says anything about possible wheat or gluten cross-contamination issues, nor do the packages used at my local Whole Foods state anything about the matter either. I've been very tempted to pick some up in order to make mousses and creme brulee with, but I don't know if it'll be worth the risk. |

Hi Tal,
Welcome to the board! I have not heard of them before. I sent an email to them asking.
http://www.chocolates-elrey.com/home.html
No, it's not worth they risk. If you can't tell from their ingredients or by verifying it with the company, it's needs to stay on the shelf
I'll let you know what I find out!
Edit to add...Randall is out of the office for the holidays and won't return til Jan 4th. Maybe a phone call to someone else might be in order... _________________ Al

Thank you, I think I'll just stick with Callebaut and Girrardelli unsweetened chocolate for now. |

| By the way, do you think this thread would be better off moved to the Manufacturers and Products section? |

Nah, I think it'll be OK here. Unless things are really out of place, I tend not to worry too much about that sort of thing.
Thanks for asking. _________________ Al

Hot off the presses...

Thanks for your interest in El Rey. We do not know what the cacao beans may be exposed to before the cacao mass arrives at our plant. In addition, our production facility has one line, so we cannot guarantee that our chocolate is not exposed to an allergen, or any substance that may be harmful to you. |

Hi,
I would like to know if your chocolate products are gluten free and
if any of your production lines processes any gluten bearing items.
Gluten is a protein found in wheat, barley, rye and oats and must be
removed completely from my diet.
Thank you for your time!

| FYI, Guittard chocolate is also GF (as is their facility) last time I checked. Good stuff! |
