Don't know if anybody wondered but I called McDonalds to ask about their new fruit and walnut salad. The walnuts are sugar coated and they are NOT GF.

I know! I bought it thinking it would be fine & of course, there on the walnuts package ingredients list wheat starch. _________________ Diagnosed with celiac disease (bloodwork & biopsy). GF (again in my adult life) since March 2005. |

Bummer, but thanks for the info.

| DON'T EAT IT! If it has gluten in it, it's still going to hurt the villi and it's going to hurt your body (even though you don't know it). Like I tell my kids.....Just say no and in our case, to gluten. Take care.......Nikki |

| Thanks, I knew that but I thought I was missing something when I see people saying ' I didn't have a problem so I guess it's O.K. It seems the more I learn the more there is to know. |

| My tummy tells me immediately, most of the time. It makes this noise like it is crying. Really! Then other times it hits about 4 hours later and I have severe problems for about 6 hours and then I am drained the whole next day. .............................Nikki |

Awwww...poor tummy. I don't get that but I do get the 4 hrs. later & being drained the next day. Speaking of which, I wonder if anemia is a very common 'side effect?' That's actually how I got diagnosed, because I was anemic. I guess the ? to anyone out there is, 'When will I get some energy back? I'm always so fatiqued! Tx.

Yes anemia is a sign. I have heard that a lot.
As far as your energy. It is going to take some time. I'm not 100% back to what I was but I can do more than I could 2 months ago. I was lucky to stay at work a full week I was so drain and in pain and miserable and sick. My fiance says I'm back to my old happy self..Nikki |

Ann,
Anemia is what led to my diagnosis too. It took me quite awhile to get any level of energy back. I'm going on 3 months since my diagnosis and I finally feel like I'm on my way back to my normal self. (Though I still have days when I can barely get out of bed). I think that's par for the course and I try not to get too discouraged because I know brighter days are coming. I definately find that I'm very lethargic and I get a nasty headache when I haven't eaten enough. I still have trouble eating on a consistent basis since it's not as easy to just grab something. I really need to work on that!
Take care my friend.
