Hi everyone,

I know it's been quite awhile since I've visited; I'll try to do better.

Some of you are new and don't know me, but I'd like to ask each of you (who read this) to please pray for our family.

My husband has been in the hospital now for 12 days. In fact, I took him in (nearly dead) on Christmas Day. 1/3 of his right lung was full of pneumonia. Days later, they discovered more above that and some on his left lung. In addition to that, his oxygen levels have been in the low to mid 80's, he's had low kidney function, low blood pressure (is normally on meds for high bp!) His heart rate was extremely high the night I took him to the ER, I believe it was 188 bpm. Other things were: massive amounts of yeast, dehydration, vomitting, and diarrhea (in fact, the last three things listed are what got him to allow me to take him; he was was just too weak to fight me any longer.)

I wish I could say he's doing better today, the sad truth is, he's not! They have given him two blood transfusions today in hopes to raise his very low oxygen levels that way. The pneumonia is unchanged; no worse, no better from x-ray 2 days ago! He's on his 5th (very strong) anti-biotic and it's not helping enough. At this point, we have no idea when he'll be home, or if he'll be able to come home without the oxygen.

In addition to this, at 2am this morning, we narrowly escaped another emergency run to the hospital; this time with Matthew! He's had a severe allergic respiratory reaction to a cat he was exposed to last night (church friends have been helping with the children while I would visit/care for Denny or do the grocery shopping).

Anyways, Matthew's now on breathing treatments every 4 hours. I'm just praying we can keep him out of the hospital!

So far, with all of the different houses the kids have gone to, Matthew's only had 2 mild gluten reactions. I have been providing all of the food, and it's been working out pretty well.

This isn't exactly how we'd like to start the new year, but the positive side is, it can only get better from here.

Kristie! I am so sorry!!! I will be praying for all of you. There is a very, very virulant cold that is sending healthy people to the hospital within 2 days of getting it.

There are just so many super bugs out there. Please be careful with your own health as well!!!!

I know that you are trying to be wonderwoman right now and be strong for everyone in your family, but Please, please get some vitamins that you can take and be very careful with washing after visiting with your hubby. I will be praying and thanking the Lord for your church family that is helping to fill in the gap with the kids.

Hugs to Matthew! He has been through so much. Please give your daughter a hug for me as well! (((Kristie)))

Praying for all of you.

Must be tough on the kiddos to have your husband be so ill.

small update:

Matthew's breathing has improved; he slept all night and didn't require a breathing treatment until this morning! I think he's going to be OK!

The transfusion seemed to go pretty well; no adverse reaction. Denny's oxygen levels stayed around 95 all night!

We're now waiting for them to repeat the x-ray and blood work. I'll post the results tonight.

Thank you everyone for your kind words and prayers!

Kristie - didn't see your post until today, but my prayers are with you and your family. Please take care of yourself. Mrs. P is right about something extremely nasty going around. Here in my little corner of Florida, both intensive care units were very busy all weekend.

thanks everyone!

His GP told me over the phone that the pneumonia is still quite massive and wanted the pulmonary doctor to take a look at him and maybe go in and "suck it out". Confused But after the lung doctor met with him, he thought it was safe enough to send him home in a day or so on oxygen for 4-6 weeks. Of course, we're thrilled of the idea of having him home, but I want him well too!! His oxygen is dropping so low at night (even on oxygen!!) I'm not a nurse, all I would be able to do is call 911, it could be too late by then... I just pray it's the right decision!

Matthew update: He's still doing well; he's only needed one treatment early this morning.

Please continue to pray for Denny.

We brought him home today! The oxygen is all set up and he's now resting in his own bed!

Since being home, his oxygen levels have mostly stayed in the 80's. I'm doing my best to keep a close eye on this, but he's already so depleted on his resources, I'm not exactly sure when to panic or not. So I continue to just lift it all in prayer! Thank God that He is in control!!

Sorry to keep this so short, but I'm pretty tired myself. Thank you so much for your prayers!!
