Well, we already have one on books, so I thought we should have one on music too. Post your favorite songs here!

However, this one's a little different. You get bonus points for providing a link to the song so we can all listen to it. It should preferably be the whole song, but parts of the song are OK. Where can you find the song online?

1. The artist's website. Tons of artists let you listen to their hit songs on their website.
2. YouTube. I can almost guarantee somebody, somewhere has used your song in a video. Link us to that video.
3. An online store like Amazon.

Just try to avoid links to "free" (pirated) songs, unless the artist meant for the song to be free. Weird Al's Don't Download This Song is a good example of a truly free song.

For the last month or so I've been hooked on Jonathan Coultron's music. If you like Barenaked Ladies and They Might Be Giants, you'll probably love him. You can listen to all his songs for free right here. Since his songs can be off the wall, I'll post a little description next to my favorites. You can find more information about each song in the music link above.

When You Go - A beautiful, but incredibly sad, a cappella song about love and loss.
My Beige Bear - His newest song, composed for his 2-year-old daughter.
I'm Your Moon - Charon sings a love song to Pluto. Inspired by the announcement that Pluto is no longer a planet.
Code Monkey - Probably one of his more popular songs. Code monkey awesome. Ostrich put on repeat.
Re Your Brains - Think Office Space with zombies.
Shop Vac - Ahh, the joys of domestication.
That Spells DNA - Jon spells out how you got here.
The Future Soon - A geekling sings about his future. A funny/sad song.
Mandelbrot Set - WTF is a Mandelbrot Set? This one has strong language.

Too many good ones to name. Here are a few of my old faves as well as my new ones. I literally could go on forever, but I will try to restrain myself.

The Stranglers i Golden Brown and Peaches are my all time favorites. Great 80's post-punk stuff.

The Dead Milkmen - Stuart and Instant Club hit are of particular mention. Some curse words here.

Beck - Guero was my favorite album, but anything Beck is sure to please.

The Ramones - the best band ever in history. Period. Blitzkreig bop and Teenage Lobotomy are on the top of the stack for me.

Donald Fagen - The Nightfly turned 25 this year, and it is one of the greatest albuns ever. IGY and New Frontier are great.

Louis Prima - you know him at the voice of King Louis from Jungle Book, but he is a great 50's artist too. Love just a gigolo and Banana Split for my Baby.

Michel Jackson Thriller - Say what you want about him being a wierdo, but this is one of the greatest albums ever.

AC/DC - I prefer the Bon Scott AC/DC. They only play 3 chords, and only sing about one thing, but they are sooooo great

Peter Gabriel - Games without Frontiers and Shock the monkey, but I do own the entire PG library.

Elvis Costello - Pump it up and My aim is true. So good.

Kate Bush - you haven't lived until you've heard Babooshka.

The Clash - love it all, but This is Radio Clash is my favorite

New stuff

Amy Winehouse - this girl has problems, but her music is great.

Michael Buble - Smoky and sexy. Home is my favorite

I have to stop now becasue I could spend all day at this.

As you may have realised by my username, I'm a huge Queensryche fan.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5k_aBBfBnyM This is Jet City Woman, this song gives me the chills every time I hear it.

Other bands I like are: (I posted my favourite song of each band)

Iron Maiden - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=16YHezyADIM

Corrosion Of Conformity - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BRf7fzkSIrA

Queen - that's right folks, Freddie Mercury and Brian May. A win-win combination. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-D99n9f3vU4

Heaven and Hell - (this is basically Black Sabbath with Ronnie James Dio as a frontman as opposed to Ozzy Osbourne) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-D99n9f3vU4

Rage Against The Machine - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1JSBhI_0at0

That's just a few for the moment. Cool thread though.

Does anyone here play any instruments? I play bass guitar and drums. I taught drums for two years, stopped in the middle of last year due to completing my last year of high school along with illness. I'd really love to get back into that again!
