Thanks Al. I did get a blood test taken last week, get the results on Wednesday. I'm not sure if they took a full one or not- it was called a 'gluten enteropathy' if that helps.

I didn't realise there was such a high rate in Italians. I must ask my mum if she has any relatives with CD- I'm doubting so, because at every function we have there are always Italians telling you to eat all their pastas, breads and cakes. They get angry if you don't! A few years back when I was told to go off wheat and dairy my Nonna insisted that her pasta didn't contain wheat. I told her to get me the flour she used to cook it, it was plain white flour. I had to explain that I couldn't eat it, she didn't take that very well. Needless to say, I offended many of my Italian relatives during that period by not eating their 'wheat-free' floury meals.

Just one more question...

Is it best to do this on a rotation diet? If so, how many days rotation?
I remember last time I went off dairy my body apparently built up an intolerance to soy because I consumed so much of it so suddenly.
So I was thinking of perhaps making up some kind of plan, ie:
Day 1- Rice, potato, lentil products
Day 2- Corn, soy, seed products
Day 3- Beans, Sweet potato, eggs
Day 4, Quinoa, nuts, meat
And obviously I'll just eat fruit and vegetables copiously along with these foods.

Will this help?

I found out my face moisteriser has wheatgerm oil in it, should I get rid of it?

I used to rotate, years ago. I actually made a sheet of magnets, with names of all the foods on them, cut them all apart, then had headings for the days of the week, stuck it all to the fridge . . . then would stick a food under a day after I consumed it . . . then oculd see that I'd eaten it x many days ago. I did a four day rotation. Others might do it differently.

To make the magnets, I got those sheets of peel-off sticky magnetic material, typed up a list of foods, stuck the printer paper (after printing) to the sticky magnetic sheet . . . then just snipped them into little rectangles. It was really easy to stay organised about the roatation that way.

(People have told me I'm a little too organised - they even have names for my type! But hey, who cares, right?? I think they're just jealous or people like me! Wink )

For me, it was very good.

I think it's good for realising how much we repeat the same foods, which is not good for many people (meaning it can lead to food intolerances, alleriges, etc). I did it with all things -- coffee, tea, etc. At that time, I was sitll consuming dairy, and I always hated the three days with no milk, cream in my tea, butter, etc.

And I'm not sure if it matters, but I did things like chicken and eggs on the same day, since the 'source' seemed to be the same . . . that sort of thing. On dairy days, I ate my beef. Just my idea -- may not mean a thing. Someone else will tell you, I'm sure, or you can Google it.

Thanx about the name...it was the only cool thing i could think of that involved my hobby (swords). well, my friends are pretty cool about it really. I've been lucky i guess because I've heard stories of being bullied etc. because of celiac but my friends are totally helpful-my bestfriend even found some GF foods for me that i didn't know about without me even asking! (now that's what i call service lol!). So my life's been pretty cool regardless of having celiac, diabetes type 1 (more severe than type 2) and thyroid disease (all i have too do for this is take a pill every morning-no big).
