In case I don't get a chance to stop in tomorrow...we're off to warmer parts on Sunday @ 9:00 AM. We're staying over night on Saturday across the street from the airport.

I'm not taking my laptop so, I doubt I'll be checking in.

See ya later!!

Hey, you guys have been busy!! Cool I see that I've got lots to catch up with.

It's good to be back home. I can't say that I'm pleased with the temperature, but it's home none the less.

Thanks C! You probably won't see too many food pictures [I do have a couple] or too much of a report. I was a bit disheartened by my experience this time. Sad More to come...

Welcome back Al! As you can see, the place still has four walls and a roof. Your plants died, but that totally wasn't my fault. *hands you back the keys*

Your trip was crappy? Aww, I'm sorry! Sad I hope you didn't get glutened. Expecting a full report.

Glad you guys are back! Sorry the trip wasn't the best... For me, the worst part of taking a vacation this time of year is coming back to face the rest of winter. Yuck. Anyway, glad you're home safe and sound.

We stayed at the Holiday Inn SunSpree in Montego Bay Jamaica. This is the same place we went to almost 2 years for my brothers wedding.

They have a reasonable system in place for dealing with food issues. Once you get there, you go to guest services and fill out a form stating what your issues are. Once that's done, you must let them know where you'll be eating. In theory, this system works. In practice it can work, but there can be some holes - like when the person you deal with is gone...or when you feel like you have to explain what you need all the time.

When making reservations for the 3 restaurants on grounds, they know who am I am - and they know how to spell my last name [even people in my home town can't spell my name, so I was impressed then when people from an entirely different culture knows how to spell my german heritage name Wink]. Peg made reservations one day - the gal told her they [the staff] know and keep track of those guests. The next day, Peg's Sister made reservations. She said - OMGosh - they really do know who we are! I made reservations - started to spell my name and was abruptly told they knew how to spell the name AND that I needed GF meals. The gal was a bit snotty...

As well as they keep track us on the front end - it seems to get lost on the back end - or at least it feels that way to me [then again, I get a little anal about how things are handled]. When I wasn't dealing directly with Ricardo, I just felt uneasy. I knew and trusted him, I knew he knew what was what. One particular evening, Ricardo knew where I was going to be, I told the waiter about my issues. He didn't have a clue, he had to talk to he Sous Chef at this location. I told him no WBRO. I watched him go ask the chef. The chef saw me, watching. He smiled and gave thumbs up. The waiter came back and told me I could order off the menu as there was nothing with WBRO [I wasn't 100% convinced at that remark - again, call me anal]. I placed my order...I ate my dinner and had no problems.

When I was there in 2005 I dealt with Ricardo almost exclusively. This was great, I had 1 person that I asked for and he made it happen. Ricardo is still there, but now...he's the Executive Chef. I don't think he was the EC back then.

I did get sick, though. So did Peg and her SIL. No, it wasn't from food. We picked up some type of cold bug. Mine started Monday night with a little cough. Tuesday, I didn't nothing but feel like crap and sleep in the deck chair. I was ready to come home. When I get sick, I get grumpy and have little patience for anything [like having to explain my food issues for one]. Peg's started on Thursday and she's still feeling it today yet.

Overall we had a good trip. We had fun, got lots of sun [probably have the best tan I've ever gotten]. I'll pick thru my almost 300 pics throw up a web page for y'all when I get a chance. It's good to be back home, however it's bitter cold here Sad
