My keen-eyed DH spotted a newspaper piece a few weeks ago that McGrath's had a GF menu now. We've eaten there twice now and done well.
Here's their locations--western states only so far:

| What do they have on the GF menu? Did they seem to know about cross contamination issues? |

They really did seem to get it. The menu is pretty detailed, too. I've had steamed crab and a couple of different kinds of fish there, and had no trouble. We had prawns one day and I asked if their tartar sauce was ok, there was much running around, but finally the answer came back as yes.
The deep fried foods all have cross contamination issues, but broiled and steamed, as well as pan fried, work well.
Oh and one day I wanted their special which wasn't on the GF menu and they checked to see if it was ok, but it wasn't.
So I feel as confident there as I do at Outback. Which is nice!

I'm really confused. I emailed McGraths fish house about thier gluten free menu this is their reply.
McGrath's Fish House does have many gluten-free items on our menu, which
I've attached to this e-mail.
And yes, we work exceedingly hard at keeping our standards high and devote
countless hours and resources training our staff about cross contamination
and how to avoid it from happening. McGrath's has been in business for over
25 years and we continue to work hard at all of the things it takes to make
a great restaurant.
This is where I'm confused check out the gluten free menu!!

That is precisely the reason why I choose not to eat out. Good luck trying to decipher that menu! |

It looks like they are saying that they attached their whole menu, and that some of the items are GF, not that they attached their GF menu. At least that is what I understand when I read it.... _________________ -Colleen

She attached the GLUTEN FREE menu. It even said it on top of the menu GLUTEN FREE!!!!!
I'm hoping it's a goof, but the way it is worded in the email makes me wonder! |

I thought the same as Colleen...after looking at the NGF menu and the GF menu...

This is telling you what comes with a meal. Should they have removed the gluten stuff...YES!! Maybe you could point that out to them Sher?
Some Blue Cheese is GF. You'd have to verify this with them.
I see all sorts of stuff that would be GF in it's natural state...and it's making me hungry for seafood!! _________________ Al

So i hope they make the change. |

The GF menu at my McGrath's doesn't list the bread at all. It lists in red the items to avoid--for example on the Cobb Salad it clealy has the Bleu Cheese Crumbles in red so you know to ask them not to put them on the salad.
I think someone screwed up on your menu.

The Eugene (Oregon) GIG support group is having a celiac social coming up at McGrath's so they can't be that out of touch...
I think someone just got kinda cut & paste happy and didn't really look at the menu too closely. But it does say, "includes"... unless you're brand new to the diet you would know better than to choose the sourdough bread or pasta... I'm glad you pointed it out to them though. I'd hate for a newly dx'd to think it was GF sourdough or penne... yikes! _________________ Cheers!
