| I am thinking about buying a bread machine so I can have Fresh GF bread anytime I want. I was wondering if any of you have any experience on the best one to buy and what I need in a bread machine? |

Hey Fifi! This thread might help you out. Personally I'd rather spend the money on a Kitchen Aid (if I didn't already have one). A bread machine is bulky and can only do 1 thing. _________________ Ostrich :>--O==={

The new issue of GF Living has a review of bread machines. I havent read it yet, but I'll try to summarize it for you when I get a chance. _________________ Al

| Thanks, I read the article and made a decision on that, but I just wondered if anyone had any practical experience. I would love a kithen aid, but I really don't bake much. I love to eat bread though and would love to be able to make it cheaper. |

Bread machines can do nice doughs as well as baking the bread (I plan to do this with cinnamon roll dough and pizza doughs, for example).
I have a Zojiroushi that I love (gets GF bread perfectly done every time so far), but I also have a Kitchen Aid and can see the arguments for that as well. |

I have the breadman I have used it a few time to try it out.Works really good. Plan on using it a lot in the warmer weather since I don't have air conditioning in my house . Bought the bread maker on ebay and got it for 40.00 new it has a small dent in it. But works great. I use the recipes from red star yeast web site. Nice simple flours. _________________ Jan |

A member of our group, emailed me a link to a GF blog called A Year of Crock Potting. The author has made some interesting things in her crock pot including bread and brownies. I'll be trying one or the other tomorrow...
Too lazy to make a pretty link...crockpot365.blogspot.com
A google search will lead you to some other recipes. |

Crock pot bread huh? I hope that doesn't require too much babysitting.
You know, I actually used my bread machine last night. DH and I were in such a hurry we didn't feel like waiting the 4ish hours it takes to make bread. So we settled for the 3ish hours in the bread machine. Used the 365 bread mix from Whole Foods, which flopped. Think it was a PEBKAC error though, not a mix error. Will try again when we're not so busy. _________________ Ostrich :>--O==={

Pre-GF I made a mean chocolate cake in my crock pot. It would be easy to convert to GF, and it was so delicious. _________________ -Colleen

| I have the Breadman and really like it. I have been using it for a little over a year once or twice a month. It is very easy to use and you can have a fresh loaf in less than 90 minutes. |

| I had a breadman machine and it worked "ok" for me. I ended up liking the bread a lot better baked in the often so I sold the breadman. Plus it took up too much space in a very small kitchen. And you can bake several loafs at one time in the often which is not the case with the bread machine. |

Now that I've read this post, I'm strongly considering buying a kitchenaid mixer, which I always planned on doing anyway, but I want the best you can get, and I don't know that I can afford that yet.
My step-mom absolutely loves her bread machine, but I remember reading that some aren't as good for gluten-free bread, so I don't know that hers would be a good brand. I know I need a gluten-free option on it, but what else should I look out for? What is a good brand if I'm going to do both? I figure a breadmaker will be a quick option, and I can use the KA when I have more time. |

I recently bought a Cusinart CBK-200 bread machine and I love it. It has a gluten-free cycle. It has been turning out some amazing loaves of bread. They are almost as high as the pan when they come out, and do not shrink or collapse. Finally a loaf of bread that makes whole instead of half sandwiches! _________________ Steph |
