I am going to a wedding in Vegas and the reception is at Battista's-it is Italian. I googled the restaurant and the food is on a buffet, well it is Vegas after all! I know I can stick to antipasto salad but, anything else. Also, this couple doesn't have a lot of money so, I'm assuming that they will go for the cheaper pasta bar.

What about minestrone soup?

Any ideas how to handle this? I called and e-mailed the restaurant and got no responses.

Thanks in advance-
Sarah

Most minestrone recipes have pasta in them, so that would probably be a problem. Good Luck!

Hi Sarah,

Do you know the bride and groom very well? I'd call them and see if they could give you the contact info of the person/people that they have been dealing with at the Battista's. At least that way, you have a contact person and they might be able to get you where you need to go.

Even if there are GF items in the buffet, be wary. There's all sorts of room for CC...mostly from people who double-dip the spoons/tongs.

IMHO I would just eat something beforehand. That's what I usually do.

I too, would eat a good meal ahead of time. If you can ever get in touch with the restaurant, you might ask them if they could make up a meal for you at your expense since it sounds like the budget for the wedding might be tight. Otherwise, you might want to keep a couple of energy bars or something in your purse in case you're there longer than you think. If you drive to the restaurant maybe you could have a cooler in the car?

Thanks for all of your help-I'll use all of you're advise but, Al I think getting a contact is the way to go. They may not help but, at least I tried. I don't want to draw attention away from my niece, the bride!

If the restaurant can't/doesn't help you, please don't try to "chance it". Trust me: eating beforehand will not suddenly zoom all the attention to you. The bride and groom will be so busy with all the wedding stuff they won't even notice that you're not eating.

Hi, Digmom -

Battista's is not normally a buffet! Maybe they're just doing that for the reception?

I can't remember exactly what I had on my last trip (I have family in LV), but I have been there since my diagnosis (and many times before then), and Battista's did a great job of working with me to make sure I could have something yummy and substantial. I wasn't nervous at all, and had no ill effects.

Good luck!

Thanks! The staff is not responding and I really appreciate you easing my mind. Maybe they can whip me up something?
